“One fruit vendor was being dishonest. I asked for 1lb of jicama in which I grabbed one small tuber. I understand the language spoken and heard them talk as if they were mocking me becuase I only wanted 1lb. They also laughed that they'd charge me $2 instead of weighing the jicama honestly. They had a sign that said $2/lb, so idk why they were being rude about my request. Just be careful who you do business with. I experienced some vendors being rude, while others are more delightful. I bought from several vendors and the other two were better with their service. So much so, the other two gave me a discount and gave me free fruit with my purchase. The two vendors who were nice had more shoppers interested in buying from them. I gave the overall experience 5 stars. They have plenty of exotic fruits to try. This ice cream bean has a texture of cotton candy and has notes of vanilla.”

“I have been going to this Farmers market for years. I keep coming back because I always find so many wonderful vegetables and fruits. There are other things there also. Flowers for example. I have made many friends over the years shopping at the Farmers market. Tourists also really enjoy shopping there too. The produce is always fresh and plenty of it. I recommend the Avocados and papayas and apple bananas. I enjoy the vibe of everybody selling their wares and meeting new people. “Hilo Farmers Market is wonderful to stroll and pick up local fruits veggies and beautiful handmade products and jewelry so come out and visit local artists and have a full meal! I Totally Recommend SAMORROW FUSION FOOD TENT! Samoan and Chamorro (Guam) food is Omgoodness fabulously delicious! “Really fun local farmer's market. Some of the stalls are a bit pricey, but lots of unique stuff. We bought some locally made spicy passion fruit jam and tried some of the local fruits and coconut water. This farmer's market is also a good place to buy Hawaiian shirts with really good prices compared to local souvenir shops.”

“The actual fresh produce part of the market is pretty small. But we had delicious rambutan for a great price $5 per lb. Bring cash! There is a large area for vendors selling jewelry and other crafts. I got a few lovely things. There are public bathrooms. There is a small coffee stand available also.”

“Nice market with a good mix of local handicrafts and food. Bought a couple things to support the locals. I especially like the woman who is doing projects with plastics and nets called Upcycle Hawaii. Innovative use for discarded materials.”

“Great variety, but watch out for high-pressure sales. Some vendors are rude and will push rotten fruit on inexperienced buyers. If you are unfamiliar with a fruit, ask multiple stalls before buying to avoid getting tricked. For a better experience, try local farm stands. They have fewer options but are cheaper, fresher, and much friendlier.”

“I was very excited for some fresh fruits, Venmoed $12 to Chona Balicoco for two papayas and a couple of Black sapote and one cocoa. Thought it was a great deal turns out the sapote was yellow and sour inside and the cocoa was rotten. I had to just compose them except for one papaya was still good.”
