Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Super fun experience at the pumpkin patch!!! We visited on the Saturday morning before Halloween and it wasn't too packed at all!! We had fun. There is a big parking lot- but be careful, the driveway to get in is really narrow and only one car fits through at a time. There is no admission fee and it is free to walk around. You also don't need reservations. There is cornhole, picnic tables to sit at, a gift shop with local good slike honey and apples, a coffee truck, a lemonade truck and popcorn for sale. There are pumpkins everywhere of different shapes and sizes available for purchase in addition to gourds and mums. We bought a mum and it was $15. There are plenty of photo opportunities and a garden to walk around in. There is also a lot of space for kids to run around in. For an additional fee, there is a wagon ride you can take that will take you to see farm animals but we didn't do this. All in all, not as many activities in my opinion as some of the other pumpkin patches around town, but I did like how close it is to town compared to some of the other pumpkin patch options and it was super cute! The staff was all really nice too!”

“We love Hunter Farm; it’s a local gem to Weddington! We’ve been coming here for years and have participated in every activity offered: petting zoo and wagon ride, strawberry picking, pumpkin patch, Christmas trees and Santa, farm camp, farm Fridays, and a birthday party. They continue to evolve their offerings and it seems like they’re trying to find ways to really engage people. Everyone we’ve encountered has always been warm, friendly, and helpful. I especially appreciate how responsive Paul has been to any questions we’ve ever had. I’m excited to see how they continue to develop their offerings and we look forward to supporting this wonderful place for years to come.”

“Took my gkids this weekend and they loved it. Outdoor picnic tables, connect 4, and Cornhole kept them entertained until our farm ride. They loved the horses, ponies, baby goats, pigs and wild turkeys. They also have a great place to wash your hands and offer hand sanitizer. The staff were really nice and spent time with all the families and kids.”

“Visited the farm over the weekend for the fall pumpkin patch, and it was such a delightful experience! The kids had an amazing time on the hayride and loved picking out their own pumpkins. The place felt completely safe and family-friendly — a perfect spot for kids to have a blast!”

“Had a blast at Hunter Farm! Staff was especially friendly and welcoming. Pumpkin selection was bigger than I expected. Pleasantly surprised to see you can buy all sorts of produce and merch. Definitely go while it’s still Fall!”

“We went to Farm Friday and had a great time. What a cute atmosphere for a Fall night. I’ll definitely be back to enjoy another one.”

“is a really nice place, especially for children, they can have so much fun with all the pumpkins and activities. It’s a great spot for a family outing with a lovely atmosphere. However, everything was quite overpriced, which was a bit disappointing. Still, it’s a cute experience for a fall day.”
