Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Louisiana.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

5 reviews on file · showing 4 visitor notes from the listing data.

“I'm very disappointed in the strawberries I purchased. Alot of them were molded and mushy. I feel like I didn't even enough good ones to freeze.”

“I purchased strawberries from Johndale Farms at the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival for $35, and the quality was completely unacceptable. A significant portion of the strawberries in the container were rotten and visibly covered in mold, making them unusable. What’s most frustrating is that this did not appear to be an oversight—the condition of the product strongly suggests they were aware the strawberries were not fresh at the time of sale. As a result, I had no choice but to discard the entire purchase, which was especially frustrating given the current cost of goods and the expectation of value for money. Charging premium prices for spoiled product at a festival known for fresh strawberries is misleading and disappointing. I would not recommend this vendor and strongly urge others to inspect carefully before purchasing.”

“Disappointing Experience with Quality at the Strawberry Festival As a local resident, I always look forward to supporting our vendors during the Strawberry Festival. However, I was disappointed with my recent purchase. Not only was the selection more limited than expected, but the quality of the berries was significantly below standard. By the following morning, roughly 60% of the batch was covered in mold and had to be discarded. While I want our festival to thrive, providing fresh, high-quality produce to both locals and out-of-town visitors is essential for the event's reputation. I hope to see better quality control measures in place for future seasons.”

“Ordered two flat. Spent way too much money for over half of them was already bad, bug ate through, and rotten.”
