“The McKerracher Family Farm has been dear to my heart since the very beginning of my time here in Idaho. When I moved here in the winter of early 2023, I took a seed-starting class for cold Idaho climates with Julie at the Athol Community Center. Shortly afterwards, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with her on their beautiful farm in Careywood. During that time, Julie also graciously allowed me to stay on her farm in my van while I was navigating a period of "transition" and searching for a place to call my own. That kindness, along with everything I learned during my internship, left a lasting impact on me. I gained invaluable knowledge and developed a deep admiration for their commitment to organic farming—which, in my opinion, is the only way forward if we want to avoid the heavy pesticides so often found on our food. Today, I live just a few miles south of the McKerracher Family Farm, and our connection continues. We now have neighboring farm stands at the Athol Farmers Market—my favorite day of the week during market season (Fridays, 2–6 pm), and I joyfully connect with the entire family that has become friends. The McKerracher family contributes so much to the community: spreading health awareness, growing and selling exceptional vegetables, fruits, flowers, and more, and hosting farm-to-table events that are both educational and a lot of fun. In today’s world, it’s more important than ever to know your farmers and understand your local food chain. I truly hope you’ll take the time to visit their farm and experience what they offer.”

“I love this family and their farm. If you want fruit and veggies that are free of pesticides and all the other crud that stores sell them look no further. I have been there several times and I can't say enough about what an amazing place this is with delicious food and a warm welcoming feel that you get being around the McKerracher's. Watching the kiddos go around foraging and playing is priceless. Also you get the chance to meet other people that make their own homemade breads and treats is an added bonus. People are engaged with others instead of their cell phones, which you don't often see these days, what a blessing that is. They've even had live music while we mill about. So if you want good wholesome family fun while getting healthy foods for your family, this is the place to go. If you are a gardener, and want to learn more about sustainable living you can get an endless amount of knowledge from this family. “This family farm has been very supportive with local residents . They provide a high-quality product. We’ve used them for the past two years for our beautiful hanging baskets to decorate our home. Our weekly food pick up at the local markets. And recently a winter food pick up that we are enjoying. We plan to continue to use them and to try to apply the skills we’ve learned to help us grow and maintain delicious food for our family.”
