What you can pick

In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Missouri, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Missouri.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We had the most amazing experience at Nan's Berry farm yesterday. The owner allowed us to come on a day off that we had even though he was supposed to be closed (never a day off he was mowing the rows and more thank a farmer today). We picked nearly 10 pounds before our toddler said enough of the heat but she was able to hide under the bushes for half the time which kept the sun off of her and time to commune with the chickens a bit. Delicious blueberries (dukes, blue crop and blue rays) for $7 a pound. He will have blackberries and eventually peaches all no spray. He gave us cold drinks and was so enjoyable to talk to. We’ll freeze these and top our dairy farmers yogurt with it and raw honey along with some black walnuts (the ugly photo thanks to a hungry toddler who stole mine lol). I think these experiences are so important and they benefit our health as well as keeping some of our dollars with the actual farmer. Text some friends like we did and go in on the trip cost. Highly recommend a trip to the berry farm.”

“Second time picking at this blueberry farm! It’s been our favorite U-pick we’ve done so far.. they’re so sweet, the property is gorgeous, and the bushes are FULL of the yummiest berries! They saw us sitting in the grass and brought us a blanket to use, and offered us waters as well! We love Nans and will be going back every year!”

“Great place to pick blueberries!!! They have a bunch of different varieties of blueberries as well. Great activity for kids to pick berries. Owners are so nice too. There are some animals too (donkey, goats and chickens). They also have some blueberry food items to purchase as well.”

“My kids absolutely love picking blueberries here. They especially love the chickens running around. The owners are amazingly kind, hospitable, and knowledgeable. They truly love what they do and it shows.”

“Love the time reservation system, showed up to great customer service and beautiful blueberries! Overall great experience for our family with donkeys, goats and chickens to look at too!”
