Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

54 reviews on file · showing 8 visitor notes from the listing data.

“My husband and I make a lot of jam, and usually the worst part is picking through the berries to remove stems and such. We bought our blueberries from Nelson Farm this year and they're the cleanest berries we've ever seen- only one stem for every other pint so far! Glad they rebuilt after the storm last year, we'll be going to them again in the future.”

“Very nice place. My 30 year old daughter is visiting from New York. One of the first questions she asked was if I thought the “Blueberry place” was open. Just picked up some blueberries. In the first pint we have eaten there were no bad berries! Highly recommended!”

“Took my great granddaughter (2 yrs old) and they should have weighed her before and after 🤣 She absolutely loved picking those blueberries as much as eating them 😋 All the staff were friendly and best blueberries around !”

“So much fun Great family time experience Had a great time chatting & picking and discussing what we will be doing with all the berries we got. We are praying all the farms are okay after all the storms this past summer!”

“Locally owned and operated!!! Super yummy blueberries at a fair price. Support your farmers!!! especially after hurricanes and Devastating weather. Don’t fret there is a new building and its blue.”

“We love Nelson's. Through high water and all it's a yearly tradition to get some fresh local berries and honey. Stop by if you can to support this family owned and operated farm.”

“Friendly, family-run farm. Blueberries were clean, plump, and full of flavor. $3/pint when I visited (6/24).”

“Very nice place, the kids enjoyed picking blueberry and we made a very nice pie”
