Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“This was a great experience. They know how to put on an event in Burgaw. This was the first time that I've been and I will be going back every year from now on. They had great music, dancing, food choices and local vendors selling their wares. They had a misting station you could enjoy to cool off and they had a lot of EMS people there to help if you had any issues. The bands played from morning to night and they all did a fantastic job. I have to give a shout out to the most accommodating person I've ever met, Debbie Bradshaw. She is the reason I found out about this event and we were able to spend time with friends at her house. I will have it on my to do list from now on. Can't wait til the next one.”

“Wonderful festival! Loads of vendors. Brought our chairs to sit and listen to music…. Loved the bluegrass. The car show was terrific. While signs were up…. No dogs/Coolers but too many dogs! Why do people need to bring dogs to crowded festivals? Wish local police would enforce the rules. Great job of organizing the festival by the town of Burgaw!”

“The blueberry festival was great. They had more vendors than any regular festival. The only one with more vendors is NC state fair.”

“I was expecting a blueberry experience...everything blueberry instead it was vendor after vendor selling products and services that had nothing to do with blueberries. There was a couple booths that sold blueberries. It was very crowded, lots of crying children and wiped out parents. It was a very hot day hence the overwhelmed parents and their children.”

“It was an interesting and relaxing event with both organic and conventional blueberries by the pint or flat”

“They should change the name of this thing to blueberry cash grab and nuisance festival. 25$ turkey legs, 5$ waters is just insane, then the cops are blocking so many streets you have to drive around the whole city just to get home. The city leaders should be ashamed of how this thing is run especially when you think about a person dying last year from heat exhaustion and nothing changed at all.”
