Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Iowa.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We went to Pride of the Wapsi’s end-of-season Pumpkin Smash/Dog Days and had an absolute blast! The weather was perfect—crisp fall air, sunshine, and just enough chill to make you want a hoodie and hot cider. General admission got us in, and from the moment we arrived, the kids were off and running. They did everything before we even made it to the pumpkin patch: bouncing blob (huge hit), giant slides, ball throwing games, giant bubbles, and of course—the goats. I swear my kids would’ve moved in with the goats if they could’ve. It was one of those days where every corner had something fun, and every laugh felt like a memory in the making. Then came the pumpkin smash. You bring your own “smashing tool,” which is genius. We brought old golf clubs and a bat. The golf clubs didn’t survive (RIP), so we all took turns with the bat. My kids are already planning next year’s arsenal—there’s talk of mallets, sledgehammers, maybe even a medieval mace. I love that the whole thing helps compost the field. It’s messy, hilarious, and actually useful. We ended the night with the corn maze, which was the perfect way to wind down. This event is such a gem—fun for the whole family, full of personality, and rooted in community and sustainability. We’ll definitely be back next year, and I’m already looking forward to whatever smashing tool my crew dreams up next.”

“I've taken my family here three times now, and each time I've been pleased with the experience. The cost of entry and to get pumpkins is affordably priced, and the grounds are always clean and maintained. While there might not be quite enough attractions for older children/teens, I find it perfectly sized for toddlers and grade school children.”

“A very nice experience with a lot to do. We had purchased the pass online, to make it a bit cheaper and it came with many perks. Three cards total with punches. We were able to play every game, eat food, purchase gem mining, and get pumpkins from the package we purchased. Highly recommend this place for your kiddos 🎃”

“We went here with my son's 1st grade class. It was a lot of fun, and educational! The staff was friendly, and stayed conscious of the weather...pumpkin picking was cut a little short due to rainy weather, but we lucked out by not getting drenched.”

“I say a 3 stars because I love it and been coming here for years since my oldest was in elementary school with the school. They have added a lot of stuff. I was disappointed pay $90 and then told I can buy a pumpkin for $10 we are arrived at 4pm soon as we finish saying I yell las call for the hayride ride which we wanted to but she had I just made there. And I I read I’ve been too places and they sell all kinds of stuff, and I do understand all stuff has went up in prices I do, but I felt like for that prices it could of been better and half the attraction my kids didn’t even want to play on.”
