Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Iowa.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We came here as a stop to get to Iowa City. Karl was so lovely! He stayed up for us to get there late, and was very welcoming. The whole house and property were clean and quaint. It was very peaceful, and the property was beautiful. Karl & Mary were so kind to cook a full spread of breakfast. The dining room was set beautifully, and this was a 10/10 experience. We will definitely be back if we drive through again. We recommend coming here for a very hospitable experience😊”

“What a wonderful, authentic place with tons of character! The breakfasts were delicious! And the hosts Karl and Mary are great and we loved hearing all kinds of stories. Beautiful acreage and giant oak trees throughout. Deer and turkeys come right up to the property. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Will definitely be back to stay with them again!”

“Quaint. It's like staying in a museum. Hospitable hosts and a convenient location. I love the varied guests that join for breakfast. Pet friendly. The house cat & I have come to an understanding about boundaries. Walk to each room and take pictures. Americana galore.”

“My wife and I stayed here for a night while traveling to Chicago during a snow storm in December of 2022. They called us a couple of times before arriving to make sure that we were okay. Lovely place and lovely people!”

“This is our second time visiting in five years. We enjoyed it very much. Our room was well decorated and our bed was very comfortable. Shower was hot and breakfast was yummy. We enjoyed the conversation with our hosts.”

“This stay was incredibly cute. The house is almost as old as the state I live in. Karl and Mary were very kind and cook very good breakfast. I will definitely choose them again the next time I come back to town.”

“I wish I could have stayed longer at this very calming and relaxing Bed and Breakfast. It could not have been more perfectly located for my plans for the weekend. It’s far enough away that it’s very quiet and off the beaten path, but close enough to things that you aren’t spending your whole vacation driving. ||I stayed in the Rose Room. It is beautiful and oh so comfy. And has an amazing view. ||Linda and Karl are very hospitable and very caring. Their cute kitty is also a great host. ||Overall a great weekend stay and should I ever find myself in Muscatine again I’ll definitely stay here.”

“What a wonderful respite to settle into a peaceful life. A charming country home with beautiful guest rooms, excellent food, and a park like setting of 5 natural acres filled with deer, turkeys and plentiful wildlife. A relaxing stay for anyone who needs to visit tranquility. We will return again and again, the best Bed and Breakfast ever.”
