Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Pennsylvania.

  • Check whether this stop is a stand, orchard tour, or full farm experience before you arrive.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.

“I've been picking my own strawberries at Pumpkin Hill for many years now. Pumpkin Hill has never disappointed in any way. Remember to bring your own containers along. They are well organized & will provide any information you need. I've also picked peaches from the trees on their farm. You can't get any fresher than picking your own fruit at Pumpkin Hill Farms. Their strawberries & peaches are phenomenally delicious. Grocery store fruits & vegetables are bland & blah compared to Pumpkin Hill's offerings. They also operate a farmers' shop/market directly across the street. This family owned farm is the only place I'll go to pick my own strawberries. This year I picked over 3 lbs of strawberries. I have to add that their produce stays fresh for quite some time as well.”

“There's nothing else like buying fresh produce directly from the people that grow it ! Pretty decent variety of different types of peppers , tomatoes , cucumbers , potatoes, corn and watermelons ... I may have forgotten something but you get the idea . Be aware that selection can vary by time of day and number of large volume customers ( think restaurants ) sometimes there's a second picking of certain items so selection can vary week to week until fields are completely picked. Prices are excellent , over the years I have overheard some restaurant buyers trying to get a better price which pretty much doesn't happen ... the farmers costs are rising just like ours , maybe even more.”

“Pumpkin Hill has the best selection of their own locally grown produce. The owner here is very friendly and knowledgeable. The strawberries here are AMAZING. During strawberry picking season, they are plentiful and just the best tasting I've had anywhere. The prices are reasonable. However, if you don't feel like picking your own, you can go to the stand they operate, and buy some that they already picked. Every single thing I've bought here has been delicious.”

“Great strawberry picking here. Also, when we don't have time, the prepicked strawberries are just as excellent!”

“Delicious strawberries and cherries for a low price, friendly staff, highly recommend.”

“Great tyme everytime I bring kids ! Always fun and family friendly.”

“Great selection of pumpkins, gourds. Great prices.”

“Great strawberry's. It was a little hard to find as I usually go their for corn in the summer. So that's where I went. It's actually a little further down the road and on the other side. But, still easy to find if your not on autopilot.”
