“Eastern Market is a wonderful place to grab anything plant related that you might need . It's also surrounded by deli's and meat markets. You can find cool clothing, accessories and cooked food throughout too. I always find more than what I came for and leave with a smile. An amazing thing that they have statewide, but here at the Eastern Market are "Double UP bucks". When you go to the Welcome Center with a bridge card, you can get 2x your money in coins to buy fresh Michigan produce! Many vendors accept these coins. You'll get gold and silver. Almost every vendor accepts the gold ones ($1 coins) and many accept the silver ($2) coin. For $20 you'll be swimming in produce, cause you're getting $40 in coins and the produce here is so reasonable! I love it here and I'm kicking myself for not going more to this amazing Detroit jewel.”

“I love going down to Eastern Market especially on Sundays when there are so many wonderful vendors to shop from. Plus most Sundays they have themed events like Vegfest, Wine Tasting and Taco showdown in Shed 5. Shed 2 is open air, which is perfect for a nice breeze, it's covered so you have shade and protection from the rain and you can find everything from ceramics to photography!”

“I have loved going to the Eastern Market since I was a little girl. I came into town and had to pay a visit to get some cider and fresh donuts. All the fresh veggies and fruits are gems. I love the vendors promoting Detroit and Michigan products.”

“Among all the structures within Eastern Market, the ultimate icon representing the soul of this century-old market—and the favorite landmark for both locals and visitors—is undoubtedly Shed 2. If Eastern Market is considered Detroit’s kitchen, then Shed 2 is the oldest and most vibrant center stage within that kitchen. Originally constructed in 1891 (and having undergone a massive, meticulous historic restoration in the early 2000s), Shed 2 eschews the coldness of modern concrete. Instead, it boasts an incredibly retro industrial design featuring an open-air cast-iron steel frame and a heavy timber-decked roof. The massive, double-sided vintage round clock sits in the center of Shed 2, radiating classical industrial aesthetics. This clock holds a supreme spiritual significance for Eastern Market. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, before smartphones and personal wristwatches were commonplace, this clock served as the "single source of time" for every Detroit farmer, meat vendor, and wholesale worker. When the market opened, when business wrapped up, and when the trains pulled in to unload freight—everything was dictated by this very clock.”

“Eastern Market is amazing. Lots of great vendors, pleased to support them when I come back home! A less-than-stellar experience with an otherwise AH-MAZING sausage purveyor. I know there are people who are NOT people persons but you need to have the right people on the front line. I'm not expecting yoga with my purchase but customer service IS make or break, regardless of your product.”

“Saturday Market was a really cool experience! Lots of vendors, great atmosphere and a lot of interesting things to see. Parking can get tricky if you aren't early but it's definitely worth checking out!”
