“WNY Apple-Picking Adventure A trip to Western New York just wouldn’t be complete without an apple-picking adventure — and this year, my sister found the perfect spot! Smith’s Orchard Cider Mill turned out to be an absolute gem on an unseasonably warm October morning. As we pulled in, the makeshift parking lot was already buzzing with cars and families. Luckily, we scored a spot halfway in and made our way toward the orchard. After a quick “how-to” briefing, we each grabbed a plastic bag and were told, “Pick as many as you’d like — whatever you pick is yours!” Challenge accepted. Walking through the rows, we passed signs marking each apple variety, and at first it looked like the trees had been picked clean. But a few rows later — jackpot! We found trees still loaded with beautiful fruit, just waiting for us. Of course, that meant it was photo-op time. With the apple trees as our backdrop and the bright fall sun lighting everything up, we captured some great shots and shared plenty of laughs. My sister, true to form, had no hesitation asking a passerby to snap a few group photos! After filling our bags, we headed to checkout, where the line gave us a chance to swap stories and just enjoy the morning. Once we reached the front, we couldn’t resist grabbing a cold glass of fresh apple cider. Nothing — and I mean nothing — beats that crisp, sweet taste on a WNY morning. It was the perfect start to our Sunday and another great memory made with my brother and sister. Something tells me we’ll be back at the same orchard next year!”

“Visited over the weekend. These are the BEST apple cider donuts I have ever had. Warm, fresh and delicious. Hot cider hit the spot on the chilly day. I will let everyone know how much I enjoyed these treats. The long haired golden retriever running around on premises is adorable. I saw him laying down in the middle of everything and was laughing but I really found it hysterical when he waltzed behind the counter like he owns the place 😂 adorable.... No more red apples left on the tree, but that's fitting for the end of October. I have no use for the green apples so I chose not to pick them.”

“The apples were already picked for the season when we went, but my Young Black Professionals of WNY Meetup group had a great time enjoying delicious cider (hot, cold, and slushy options), cider donuts, and watching the apples get pressed. Bought a gallon of cider to go ($6.50) and a 1/2 dozen of cider donuts ($1 each) for the road and most didn't even make it home, haha.”

“Loved our experience here! This family owned orchard is the real deal with the BEST cider, apples, a hundred yo cider press and oh those cider donuts are heaven! Wish I lived here so I could visit all the time. So worth the drive out of our way. Thank you Smith family for serving our great country.”

“It was a beautiful day and we found a ton of apples even later in the season. Long lines but fair for the crowd and weather, checkout was less than desirable the girls were lifting up their shirts playing with their belly button ring and were getting our donuts afterwards and didn’t even say hello. But still would recommend you barely see staff.”
