Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Pennsylvania.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Such a great place! The staff were so kind and friendly and the areas were clean and well organized. The kids had a blast at their Fall Festival and were able to make a lot of fun memories! We were able to purchase some of their pumpkins, mums, and hay squares and everything was decently priced and in really great condition. We will absolutely be back!”

“Had so much fun, we go to the fall fest for the day 10am till 4pm then another time we go for pumpkin picking with family. This time they had a tortoise and a guinea hen to see as well as goats and calves. I wish they had more tables in the shade tho. I'm half albino and always get burned. It's the only part I don't look forward to”

“Fresh fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, potted plants, pumpkins, gourds, etc in season. During autumn, they have hayrides, pick your own pumpkins, scarecrow making, sunflowers, and organized family friendly events. I personally know several members of the Smyser family. The are friendly, helpful, and very nice.”

“Always a fun time here. You pay a small fee to enter. Then once inside, there are numerous activities to do. Multiple mazes in all sizes. Hayrides. Pumpkin picking and chucking. Multiple playgrounds and even a small petting zoo. There are several good trucks to get food and snacks.”

“Plenty of pumpkin sizes and shapes to choose from. You can use a little wagon to walk around and pick your own fall stuff out. Even had little corns. Awesome. My first time here but will be coming back.”

“Great family day at the farm with lots of fun activities for the kids. Family hayride and ice cream. Pick out your pumpkins too.”

“We did the fall fest with our kids. Not a whole lot to entertain my oldest (11YO) but my 7YO enjoyed the big slide and wagon ride. Seems better aged for younger kids, probably our last year going, wasn’t really worth it unless your kids are under 7/8.”

“I came for Fall Festival for my son’s birthday. There’s only 5 kids including my son (all around 10) AND 4 parents. It’s not like me and 15 kids. 3 of the boys were playing at the slides, 2 of the parents were standing back watching them and me and my partner were in line for fries (still in view). The owner yelled at my children and made them sit at the table and not play and then went off of me in front of them and the other parents that this is why he doesn’t do parties (I brought a balloon, no cake, no gifts, it’s hardly a party) and all the parents are here. Don’t approach my children, ask where the parent is, don’t disciple them on their birthday. Talk to me privately and I will tell them no playing no smiling no fun. The dude (I’m assuming the owner) wouldn’t shut up or leave the table and kept repeating himself. I said so I can’t sit at the table and watch them play? He said I prefer not. What?! I don’t want to ride the bikes or go down slides, I did go through the maize with them. Horrible birthday. Horrible experience. The other parents think this is a joke as well. We are cutting our time and leaving. This is a field for goodness sake. I’m 5 minutes away from here and this will be my first and last experience. I’m not even going to give the market my service after this horrible experience. Maize quest is definitely worth the drive and I’m really regretting this decision.”
