Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Illinois.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I had the time of my life for the Haunted Barn and Hayride here! The actors are super interactive but not pushy with people who are ~too scared. The sets/scenes were so well done. Put together nicely with cute details. I went with a group of my friends and we all had a BLAST. Even my 2 friends who are anti-haunts and anti-scares. There were also some cool photo opportunities with all sorts of fall decor and even the actors themselves. Even the food was good! We had churros, funnel cake sticks, and chicken tenders and it was all so delicious. As a lover of Halloween and a good scare, I will be back next year for sure. The staff (non-scare actors) were so friendly and helpful. Made everything super easy to manage. The farm was clean and safe. As a new patron and lover of Sonny Acres, I will also be looking out for whatever else Sonny Acres has going on. Definitely give this place a go. You won’t regret it.”

“Entrance & parking is free. Kid rides is CASH ONLY with $2 per ticket.. rides range from 2-4 tickets. They have a lot of food options that accept card payments. My daughter enjoyed the rides. Food was lovely! We got tacos, funnel fries, the fries & cheese bucket, BBQ ribs, a hot chocolate & more! lol Sonny Acres is perfect for those who do not enjoy walking a lot. It is small but you will have fun!”

“We went there for a birthday party. They decorated the inside of one of the buildings for this. The food was catered in, delicious. The servers were very nice. Friendly place and staff. Great place to have a party. 1st time there and I understand they have wonderful things for children and a rodeo, which I will return to see. A definite family place to have a nice time.”

“I haven't been here in over 15 years and honestly I've been missing out. With the hayride, the food, the heaters, fire pits and plenty of seating. Even had clean bathrooms. Great for family's or group of friends. I do wish they had some sort of bracelets for the rides.”

“Visited Sonny Acres Farm on a family outing over Father's Day weekend. We saw the Big Hat Rodeo and we all loved it! Great show but the whole place was awesome. Kids loved the rides, and cold drinks for the adults. We'll be back!”

“We went on Sunday, arrived at 10:05 a.m. and the main parking lot was already half full. So if you get there any later than 10:15 am you most likely won't find a spot and you'll have to park at the two additional parking lots they have which are a mile away. They do offer shuttle or you can walk the mile which I saw a lot of people doing. Luckily we snagged a spot at the main parking lot because we did get there early. My favorite part about this place was that it was free admission and the apple cider was amazing!!! I usually don't like apple cider cuz it's overly sweet but this one was perfect! You can buy a gallon or a small pint in their store. The apple cider donuts were warm, soft, fluffy and delicious! Don't buy them from the food stand. It's cheaper to buy them in the store, they sell them for $1.75 each versus at the food stand it's a little more. They have a decent number of rides for the kids. The lines will definitely get long the later in the day you go to the farm. We got there early enough that they were able to go on all of the rides and go back for a second time before the line started getting really long. The lines started getting very very long around noon. Overall, it was worth the drive, took us an hour from the south side of Chicago to get there but the kids had fun!!! I didn't rate five stars because I wish they had more adult entertainment. This pumpkin patch was definitely geared towards kids.”

“There many attraction for kids to do The general admission is free, offer many photo opportunity but all the attraction aka games for kids to plays are required for tickets, which is from 2-4 tickets, each ticket sold for $2 lemonade was great, set u up $10 if you want spiked lemonade that was set you back $14 The corn was tasty which will set you back $6 If you go there mainly for the farm entertainment or for pumpkin patch that is for you. If you wanted more attraction and games with some pumpkin I think santa village is better especially if you have season pass lol They also have areas for you to hold birthday party and building a farm house to hold a wedding”
