A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Washington.

  • Check whether this stop is a stand, orchard tour, or full farm experience before you arrive.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.

“The Spooner Berry Farm just outside of Lacey Washington. Is where you will find the freshest ripest best priced marionberries blueberries and raspberries. You have to remember they are seasonal, they are picked daily and sold that day you will never get berries that were picked 2 days ago. So if you're making cobbler or jam or jelly or just want some fresh berries there's no better place in Spooner Berry Farm to get those. Don't get me wrong I enjoy coming to see my mom up here in Lacey I live in central California but as much as seeing my mother I look forward to going to Spooner's in July and August. If you have missed this season put it in your calendar set an alarm and next July or August treat yourself you will not regret it. I learned a valuable lesson this trip, I purchased my berries the first day I got there, went to Fred Meyers and bought two coolers some dry ice and put them in to the coolers. On the third day I bought more ice to make sure they were kept cold. I got home back to Jackson California 3 days later so now they've been in a cooler for a whole week. That's when I found out how fragile berries are and how they do not store well so if you do buy berries do everything in your power to use them within a couple days. I feel like an idiot I lost over $100 and close to $100 on the two coolers I bought let alone the dry ice it's my own fault but it will never happen again anyway treat yourself Spooner's farms”

“Spooners Berry Farm on Yelm Highway has great Marion berries, raspberries and blueberry's for sale now. Fresh, family business. They also sell their berries at the Olympia Farmers Market and various other locations through the city.”

“Strawberries are very fresh and have a deliciously sweet taste. The farmers are very warm and friendly, and the prices are very affordable. It's a great place to go with children for strawberry picking. Highly recommended.”

“Spooners has awesome berries, however we stopped to pick our own only to find out that they don't open U-Pick until June 9th. We will be back next week.”

“I look forward to berry season every year, ever since I was a kid. Love the strawberries and the honey!”

“Love their berries. I either get them in Lacey or grab some when I'm in Aberdeen.”

“Best strawberries ever!! Raspberries just out also”

“Perfect flavor and so excited to know they’re local. Only loose one star because they aren’t organic, but local fresh fruit that comes out so perfect is a big deal! A lot of fruit from the grocery store is a mystery and you don’t even know if it will be good enough to eat until you get home and it’s too late.”
