Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Alabama.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Fantastic Strawberries 🍓🍓🍓!! Clean Fields. Friendly Guy at Booth. Strawberries are Perfect. Good Prices too. Well worth the trip.”

“Nice little place with very friendly folks. We came out for strawberry picking and they were also selling various jams and local honey.”

“Came here to pick strawberries. It was fun and the people were nice. Strawberries only lasted a couple of days then had to throw them away sadly.”

“I have purchased strawberries for years from Sunshine farms. I was disappointed this year. Half of the strawberries were not completely ripe and they were very dirty. I had driven from Birmingham, so I went ahead and bought 5 buckets for me friends and family.”

“I got 20 boxs on a Saturday . They looked really good and taste good . Had to throw almost half away te next day. They all spoiled . Check DATE ON BOX BEFORE YOU LEAVE. The ones they sold me was well over a week old.”

“Horrible. I bought 30 boxes of peaches on friday morning and took them home and put them in the cooler, on monday morning when we got ready to go sale them they were completely covered in mold. I contacted them as soon as i saw the peaches and they have informed me they will not make them right... I HAVE BEEN BUYING FROM THEM FOR A LONG WHILE AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE BUT AFTER THIS I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN”

“The place seem like it didn’t exist. There was an old run down sign that said sunshine strawberries but an abandoned building with a small patch of strawberries field. There was no strawberries and no person on site. It was a Saturday and the hours said till 4pm and I arrived at 3pm as it was an a random trip coming from Calera. Very disappointed and I really don’t think it’s a real field.”

“My son went and pick me up some of these strawberries and over half of them were mushy In the picture laying on the towel are the ones that are useable .the ones on the front row still have mushy spots on them but I can cut them off. The ones pictured in the plates are the ones like I had to throw away . It was a waste of money”
