Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Washington.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I had given up visiting farms with small children for one reason - the bathrooms (or lack thereof). Even the biggest and most well known farm experiences typically offer single stall porto potties - in the sweltering heat - even when they are serviced regularly - stink and are unsanitary. Hand washing stations, when available are rudimentary at best. With babies and diapers or small children potty trained or not: Is a NO-GO situation for this parent. Swans Trail Farms blew my mind. I accepted an invite from a parent friend assumming we would be dealing with the standard farm set up. I packed ALL the sanitizing equipment, extra water, clothes, put my game face on...imagine my surprise when I park and walked up to a paved walk way and a fabulous trailer with finished bathrooms complete with stalls and an ample washing station. This might seem like a small amenity - but to this Mom, it was life changing. The bathrooms were clean, large and the hand washing stations were located next to EVERY attraction, not just the bathroom. Pet a goat? Wash ya hands. Pet a rabbit? Wash ya hands. Pet a kitten, puppy, pig or chicks? You can wash your hands. Ample soap and actual real faucets. Honestly the set up was so well thought out - for families with kids, it was a delight. It wasn't cheap - BUT there were TONS of things for kids to do with basic entry: Trampoline, obstacle course, zip line and hay maze - not to mention holding or petting every baby animal. I felt like we got our money's worth. The food and drinks were amazing. A strawberry lemonade the size of my head was the stuff dreams are made of. A strawberry shortcake sundae is literally something I will fantasize about until I can have it again next summer. Lastly the staff was all SO NICE. We're talking, "Thank you! You're welcome! Have a great day! Do you want to use my fan? Is there anything I can do to help? Hope you have a great weekend!" Smiling happy faces even upstairs in the sweltering barn with screaming children — which was honestly pretty shocking considering most farm employees are apathetic at best and at worst, couldn't care if you're conscious or not. Jokes aside, everyone was so nice; it was quite refreshing. I had such a great time I will be back and felt compelled to give them this glowing review! Thank you Swams Trail and we will see you again soon!”

“Really cool place! Lots of fun things to do around the farm! Their strawberry shortcake sundaes and kettle corn are incredibly good! The hot dogs and Mac and cheese are not too bad either! 😂 They have a nice selection of unique items in their country store, that can make really good gifts. They have tractor rides and an area for the little ones. I was surprised to see how many puppies and cats they had. You can pet and even adopt them. Overall, this place is very unique and I have come here multiple times over the years. Very fun and everyone is super cool and friendly. Would recommend! :)”

“Three generations of our family spent the day at Swans Train Farm celebrating our grandson’s third birthday. A good time was had by all! The weather was rainy on and off. We took advantage of all the covered actives when it sprinkled the corn building, the chicks, the slide and the tractor ride. When the sun came out we enjoyed the corn maze, the pig show, the tractor ride, the magical pumpkin patch! It is really a fun place!”

“Best local farm!!! Babies and Berries has limited entry spots so no more than 5-10 minute waits to hold all the baby animals, great for adults, plus all the play areas if going with kids. Even solo adults who want to hold bunnies and kitties would love this place. We also go every year for pumpkin time as it’s the perfect size farm to enjoy in a few hours, and not get overstimulated.”

“Amazing experience, ciders, and food (highly recommend the loaded fries with pulled pork!)! Easily accessible fun, especially for families and couples, with many activities for the little ones. All the employees are kind, attentive, and great with kids. I'd highly recommend this experience to all!”

“My mom and I took my kids to Babies and Berries and it was truly a remarkable experience! We were able to hold chicks, ducklings, bunnies, kittens and puppies! The strawberry treats were amazing as well! I will be marking my calendar for this every year from now on!”

“We love going here for so many different seasons & events! We’ve done apple picking, pumpkins in the fall, and this was our first year doing the baby animals & berry picking. Such a cute and fun event, and our kiddos were obsessed!!”

“Very fun place! My wife, son and I go every year. Pro Tip, do the indoor activities first if the weather is not ideal. We came and right after we bought tickets it started pouring rain. We asked if we could reschedule for the following weekend and they said their policy is no refunds or reschedules. The former is understandable but the latter with inclement weather is overly rigid and a testament to them not have much competition. (They don’t need to concern themselves with upsetting their customers because they have plenty) Luckily for us, the weather was sporadic and we were able to enjoy the outdoor portion once it stopped raining! The staff has ponchos, but non were available for purchase for the guests. Another trait of a company having no competition. No umbrellas in the gift shop either. I suppose they don’t have to deal with inclement weather often, or they don’t consider the times they do and how they could accommodate their guests…we should have prepared better ourselves! The two rides are fun, but lack scenery. They could add some, remlinger farms has some. There is a jumping area similar to a trampoline for the littles. Gold mining water trowel. Barn-side basketball, football, baseball(needs improvements balls get stuck) The place is well staffed, plenty of hand washing stations. Although another pro tip, bring hand sanitizer. Your child will pet animals. Wash their hands, pet more animals, wash their hands, hold a bunny, kitten, puppy, chick, duckling, or pet a pig goat or cow, then have to wash their hands again! After the fourth hand wash, I wish I had brought hand sanitizer. To change diapers they have a nice room to the right of the ticket booth. That is the only location to do so, the rest are porta potties. The farm is a blast and a lot of fun! Just plan carefully. Their ticket policies are rigid with no exceptions allowed, even if the manager gets involved. Another pro tip, the food to the right in the back(west side of the farm) has an indoor area to eat where they do alcohol tastings. You can bring your food in there to eat and it is the best place to sit down to eat at. The french fries are greasy slimy potato slices and not crispy at all. But the chicken is delicious. You can walk to the strawberry field to do the picking, or you can ride the wagon and it will drop you off and pick you up. The strawberries were well picked when we got there. Have a fun! And I hope the constructive criticism helps this farm improve!”
