What you can pick

In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for North Carolina, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We just had a lovely trip picking apples on a cool misty morning! Mark, the owner, was so gracious and provided an educational overview on all the varieties of apples, pears and peaches on his farm. The orchard is beautifully maintained, the varieties clearly marked, and the trees are dwarf and trellised so you don't need a ladder in order to pick even if you are vertically challenged. A delightful time wandering the groves. Mark gave us careful instructions on how to locate the ripest fruit. We’re definitely making this a regular trip for delicious apples, and as a great way to support our local farmers! The only concern is the rambling dirt road to his location might be a bit confusing as you pass several large homes along the way. So glad we drove to the end of the road!”

“I search on Google for 🍎 Apple Farm nearby and this farm came up. My family and I decided to go for picking this morning Aug 14th. Firstly when we arrived at the entrance was a bit confusing as the maps shown we arrived, but we could not find a sign as the information that we have arrived at the right place. So we decided to get into the rocky road till almost the end of the road, then we saw the sign 😌 Unfortunately the apple is not ripe yet 🍏, and we met with Mark who was friendly and advice us to come back for the harvest time which is mid of September. We managed to get some ripped apple from a few trees home which was a courtesy from Mark. This is a nice family farm, and definitely will come back in September for full harvest 😋”

“The only complaint I have is that I found you on your last day of the season. Scenic drive just outside of Durham. Charming and chill owners. Beautiful rows of fruit trees with apples accessible even for my height challenged family with kids. Paying less per pound than the grocery stores sad apples felt almost criminal, but what a welcomed surprise. As if our basket full of sweet and crisp apples weren’t enough, the apple slushies we enjoyed on their picnic tables under sailcloth were SO DAMN GOOD that we’ll be dreaming about them until next year. Thank you for a lovely morning and we’ll see you in 2026! Also, for those keen on tiny homes and container conversions; some drool worthy inspo here.”

“What a gem! This is the perfect picking spot for families. Small, quiet and well-maintained. Owner is super friendly and engaging, and obviously passionate about his farm. Was eager to answer any questions and helpful with anything. The blackberries are UNREAL - so juicy and sweet, not like anything I’ve had. Prices are great and we went on a quiet morning and had it to ourselves. Entrance can be a bit confusing - looks like it’s just a house, but you’ll see a road that is along the side. Follow it for about a minute back and you’ll see a small entrance sign. Will definitely be back for the summer apples! A great experience and great location!”

“This orchard is absolutely gorgeous!! Such a great find close to the Raleigh area. They’ve got a great selection that they update on their website - the drinks were so good and my kids had a blast! Awesome place for some fun apple picking that didn’t cost an arm and leg. The owners are so sweet. Will be back very soon!!”

“Tip: the entrance from the main road looks like a residential dirt road/driveway!! The orchard was absolutely beautiful and the owner was helpful and very informative. It was a great experience with many different types of apples to choose from. 10/10 recommend :)”

“We had a WONDERFUL experience today picking peaches and apples! Friendly and knowledgeable owners, beautiful orchard, delicious milkshakes, could not have asked for a better experience!”

“Best peaches I’ve had in years! Can’t believe it took me this long to find them and will be going back.”
