What you can pick

In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Michigan, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Michigan.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“A family-run raspberry farm featuring seasonal red, black, or gold raspberries. Show up and pick them yourself or call ahead with an order and pick them up. In addition to berries, different veggies such as tomatoes, squash, peppers, and whatever else may be growing that season are available as well as local honey. Prices per quart are very good, and I often find myself picking a lot more than I plan. I usually pick two to keep fresh and use immediately and the remainder I freeze for winter use. Invite a friend or two and spend an hour or two stocking up and talking. Usually I make several trips during the season to take advantage of the schedule of the different berry colors instead of powering through once a year. The owner, Brian, is frequently there and chatting with him is something I always enjoy. Kids always seem to love getting to help pick the berries (and eat a few as they go) so bring the whole family.”

“I enjoy the quality and taste of the products from Trapp’s Berry Farm, the raspberries were so large and pretty this year. I’ve bought several quarts of their flavorful honey. The tomatoes were beautiful this year, and Mrs. Trapp’s flowers were gorgeous and an affordable price.”

“The man running the stand was very nice. Me and my family were able to pick raspberries to are hearts content. They tasted amazing and the price is just right. I even found a tree frog! (Don't worry I put him back where I found him)”

“Absolutely saved my bacon today with some STUNNING. Cafe au Laite Dahlias. They didn’t come in from my supplier and after calling what seems like 59 farms…. Kathy had them!”
