“The lady selling fruit behind the counter was hilarious.”

“We stopped in after buying a few items from the fruit stand closest to our car. My husband had picked up a fresh coconut for our daughter, and my son was excitedly showing everyone the whole sugar cane we'd just bought, saying, "Look what we got!" Before we even had a chance to ask any questions, the staff noticed the sugar cane and started commenting on it: "Where did you get that?" followed by "How are you going to eat that?", "Let's see you eat that," and "Good luck with that." When I replied that we'd cut it at home, they asked where home was. When I said Makakilo, the response was, "Oh, where the rich people live." We had actually come in hoping to buy fruits we couldn't find at the other stand and wanted help choosing a few unfamiliar items. Unfortunately, after that exchange, the conversation became very short, our questions weren't really answered, and we felt like we were no longer welcome as customers. Too bad, the fruit looked good.”
