Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Maine.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I love this farm stand and apple orchard. On this visit, we dropped by on a very busy Sunday afternoon in the middle of apple picking season. We were starving, so we first ordered a veggie cheese steak at the food truck on site and enjoyed at the picnic table. Very tasty. We waited in a long line to order a warm apple dumpling with whipped cream to eat on our visit and a half dozen apple cider donuts each for ourselves and for our daughter to take with us. We also selected fresh apples from the bin instead of picking our own, but that's an option as well. After waiting in another line to pay, we then went to the barn for Rickers Apple Cider. Very long line there, since only one person was working, but you could order large bottles, 4pack cans or enjoy a tasting flight to enjoy in the barn or at picnic tables. We purchased a 4 pack of maple apple cider and a 4 pack of blueberry apple cider to go. Friendly staff members, but I usually go on a week day if I can, because there are only a few people instead of the crowds. But definitely worth the wait and crowds. Great place for baked goods, cider, hard cider, frozen pies, apples, pumpkins, and mums. Plenty of porta potties. Overflow parking along the road. Beautiful setting at the edge of Auburn.”

“The girls had a great time here. Apple picking here is very fun. They have plenty of apple trees to pick from as well as boxes of apples if that’s not your thing. They have a few animals as well as animal food that your children can feed to them, as well as a playground. Inside is packed with local offerings ranging from coffees, donuts, honey to name a few. Not to mention their Ricker Hill Cider! You are guaranteed to find something for everyone in your family here! We go every year and we always have a fun time and leave with many treats.”

“Always a great time here! Even when it is packed with people the customer service is great and they have the best warm sugar donuts along with their apple cider slush! It’s always a good time apple picking, the kids can play on the playground, there was a craft “fair” going on as well. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a place to pick apples, they have pumpkins as well, mums, a corn maze, tractor ride and at night they have “Nightmare on the Ridge” which I believe is a haunted walk! Great place all around!”

“We love this place and visit several times/yr. I do find their prices a tad-bit high but the experience balances it out. I used to take my children here and now we take our grandchildren. The children love the Barnyard with toys, animals and farm equipment to climb on. This year we participated in their Nightmare walk($25/person). We wanted to purchase sweatshirts but they were all out of the sizes we needed so we bought t-shirts instead. Great family fun, great apples, great experiences.”

“Fresh and local describes this place out in the country if you love honey if you love apples in house made donuts, local chocolates, different types of flavored popcorn, even baby goats this place has it all it’s a wonderful place to visit a little bit of a step back in time.”

“Awesome experience! They have everything you want in an orchard and more! Easy navigation to the type of apple we wanted to pick. Fun experience for all ages including bunnies, chickens and goats too! And the donuts were wicked yummy too!”

“First time here and overall I thought it was pretty good. Lots of kids stuff but not too many animals to see. Just goats and bunnies. You can pick your own apples and blueberries. They have a small bakery, little ice cream shop and if course a gift shop with lot things. Their corn maze was big and we definitely got lost and ended up just going back to the where started. It got to hot to try to find the end. $5 for the corn maze. Didn't like the apple crisp very much, but the donuts were really good. They have a little place to try Riker Hill hard ciders but they don't offer much food options. They have a haunted walk that starts soon and it looks pretty scary. Recommend ages for 13+. The owner said it's about a 20 min walk. Never been but I think my kids would like it.”

“Fantastic time of year to visit this farm stand/ attraction, corn maze, haunted feilds, fresh fruits, vegetables and locally sourced products, lots of baked goods, toys and much more! Great place for children and adults alike.”
