Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Virginia.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“A very nice place for families. You can fill up a basket, for 30$. Few notes: 1- You need to reserve your spot in advance. But, only you can do it one day in advance, opens in the evening time, and the open slots are usually sold out quickly on the weekends. 2-No restroom, only the portal type, so limitation if you have small kids 3- Bring your water, no store nearby. 4- Bring and use bug repellent, especially for kids.”

“Super fun! You do need to make reservations, one reservation per family unit. one bucket comes with the reservation. Additional buckets are $35 for the first additional, and $20 for each bucket after that. Mound your buckets. Strawberry preserves/syrup is also available for sale. A few covered picnic tables make for a good stop before the car to eat some strawberries since you can’t eat while picking.”

“Love this place. This is the second year we've come to pick strawberries here. The people are so friendly, the field is so nicely organized, and of course, the strawberries are delicious! The buckets cost $1 apiece and the strawberries are $3.99 per pound. however, I was told that if you mention the capital mama website you can get a 25% discount. Regardless, it's totally worth it.”

“It costs $36 for one bucket, which seems a bit pricey. But It was a fun experience, and the strawberries are way tastier than what you get from stores. I would reconsider going there before/during/after the rain as the ground gets really muddy.”

“Wanted to give this location a 5 stars but direction and guidance is horrible. There are no “entrance” signs and if you follow the “ exit” sign it leads you to a closed gate. Other than that , good overall experience. Friendly staff and plenty of delicious strawberries to pick”
