Crooked Run Orchard

“I have been there with my wife and kid this past weekend. We liked the place there. We enjoyed picking up the pears and apples. The pears are really good. This place is managed by a senior couple. When we parked our car, I came to ask a question. The lady requested me to turn off the engine. I felt sorry, because that wasn't good for them to inhale the CO2 while they are helping protecting the environment and keep managing such a place. I went back to my vehicle and told my wife, who was planning to stay in the car while my kid and I are going inside. She was happy with that. The reason I am mentioning this is that I saw some visitors who were angry because they wanted to keep their car engine on during their whole visit. I just don't want to see a negative review about a place just because someone wasn't caring about the health of the people who provide this serve for just a few bucks, instead of encouraging them.”

“Very reasonably priced pear picking. The pears are very ripe, delicious, juicy, and sweet! Enjoyed talking to the owner, a very kind, wise person. We loved our visit and are looking forward to coming back here! Removing occasional thorn branches on the ground would make the picking experience even more pleasant. “Very fairly priced apple picking. Be weary that the orchard has a very spooky-haloweenesque feel to it. The trees are very grey, but the apples are sweet. I reccomend wearing long pants as the grass is pretty tall, and easy for ticks.”

“We had a great time picking pears at this orchard. Unfortunately, they are out of apple's for the season, but the pears are very ripe, delicious, juicy and sweet! We are looking forward to keep coming back here!”

“They had a good number of trees and a very reasonable price for the pick your own. There was good signage to get you to where the fruit was as well. The orchard itself needed a little upkeep such as mowing and removing broken and downed branches.”

“The earlier you arrive there better . Apple cider was sold out after 4.00pm. And the parking space was full. Yet managed to get in walking, and collect "some apples" (not much good ones are left in the trees!). It's a bargain if you get any @ 1$ per Ibs.”

“We used to go there each year 5 to 10 years ago. A lot of great memories, but the orchard wasn't good this year. Picking apples this year was mostly trying to find a handful of apples that were edible. Many trees had lost all their leaves (which I found odd being just late September) all the apples are blotchy. Trees and apples seem to be over-sprayed with pesticide. I spoke with the person at the cash register and he explained that they had a very poor bloom this year and that only 20% of the blossoms were out. I hope they have a better season next year.”
