Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in New York.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Apple Barrel Orchards and Cidery is the place to go!!! Everything is top quality and the owners are 2 of the best people you will ever meet, guaranteed!! The story goes that the current owners are the 4th generation on the farm and also that current owner Allison was born in the orchard one day when her mom was out picking apples. Talk about having apples in your blood!! If I could give them 10 stars, I would.”

“It was really nice to go apple picking in the fall without the crowds, especially during the pandemic! The people there were welcoming and helpful. We got some great Cortlands and even on Oct 9th there were plenty to choose from. They have a nice farm store with pre picked apples, pancake mixes, syrups and honey. We'll be back for sure and highly recommend to everyone!”

“Great cider venue! I really loved their ciders. I got a $12 flight of the apple mead, concord, cherry and raspberry ciders. If you like sweet cider, you've got to try the cherry and the raspberry cider. Absolutely delicious!! They had a food truck and live music on a Saturday and the place was bustling. Mostly outdoor seating so come dressed for the weather.”

“We had so much fun tonight talking with Mike and Ada! Ada drew me a beautiful picture and we spoke for so long. Mike, thanks for telling us all about your past present and future. Loved you all we signed up for the club membership. 5 stars and beyond. See you soon!”

“Great family owned business! Mike and Allison are friendly, down to earth people who take time to talk to their customers. The Red Raspberry and Tart Cherry ciders are perfect any time of year, especially on those hot summer days. Definitely a local favorite.”

“We arrived at the end of the season. On a Sunday. We bought apples from the onsite store as well as mini donuts & lots of cider. Apples are tasty & fresh..the cider was some of the best I've had. Warm donuts were perfect for the chilly day.”

“Stumbled upon Apple Barrel Orchards on our way back from Keuka Lake State Park. Lovely place. The staff were super friendly and helpful. She washed our peaches for us so we could eat them on our way back! The peaches were delicious!”

“Excellent apple picking and some outrageously good cider. Very affordable tasting flights, and quite a few other really nice stuff available for purchase”
