Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Minnesota.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“This is such a fun, family-friendly space, and after three separate visits over the years, I realized I had not had a chance to share a review! The big pros for me are the facts that it's free admission/parking - as most of us can appreciate, it's a bummer to arrive with kiddos in tow, pay an arm and a leg to get into it, only to have to turn around half an hour later if it's not quite what you're expecting. Nope, not here! You can find adorable (and insta friendly 😘) photo spots as soon as you approach the silos near the ample parking. You can go towards the treeline for a pumpkin walk, or head towards the building (and action) where there are several different kinds of pumpkins, multiple family friendly play areas (I'd suggest ages three to eight would find this place magical, but honestly even the kids at heart can find something to enjoy), and several places to take photos for free. On your way out, you can check the suggested prices for various pumpkin sizes and either drop money and/or check in the locked box or pay via venmo. And if you're feeling up for it, there's big bags of kettle corn you can munch on on your drive home. It remains one of our favorite places to go in the fall, and we look forward to next year's visit ❤️”

“If you have a toddler or small kid, this is definitely the place to go for pumpkins! They have so many great photo opportunities and plenty of fun stuff for younger kids - my daughter loved the play area, which has small cars to race against each other, a rocking horse, a kid-sized log cabin, and more. Their pumpkin selection is also great and is very reasonably priced! We also really enjoyed the walk through the fields - again, lots of great photo opportunities! The best part, though, was how nice and friendly the people working there were! They were so kind and helpful, answering questions and jumping in to take some family pictures of us. My family will definitely be back next year, and we’ll be sure to tell our friends about this awesome place!”

“We visited Barten Pumpkins for the first time today with our 13 month old and had a great time! It’s super family-friendly, the setting is adorable, and there are lots of great photo ops. The selection of pumpkins at fair prices is another bonus. We definitely plan to return again next year!”

“If you are looking for a fun little place where you can pick out your own pumpkin, Barten Pumpkins is your local place! They have a great variety of pumpkins and different activities for little ones. There are different photo opportunities to take as well. You can check their website to see what activities are going to be happening. The earlier in the season they are open, the better to get more varieties. Fun little place to look for a (or the 😆 ) Great Pumpkin!🎃”

“Overall experience is wonderful. What a great set up and the kids loved it. My only complaint is the price of the pumpkins. You are paying for the experience more so than the pumpkins themselves. While I understand this, it makes it difficult for a large family to pick out carving pumpkins. We just usually get a couple small decorative ones due to cost of the larger ones.”
