Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Wisconsin.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We’ve been going to Basse’s Pumpkin Farm for years and have always loved it! It’s one of our favorite family traditions. There’s so much to do, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. This year, we spent the whole day there from open to close. We went specifically for the tractor ride out to the pumpkin field, but we accidentally missed the last call. The owner went above and beyond to make sure my kids still got their tractor ride and were able to pick their pumpkins. That kind of kindness and care is why we keep coming back year after year. Basse’s truly makes every visit special!”

“My family and I visited this farm last year and we ran out of time before we could do all the activities around here. We visited again this year because last time the farm closed before we could do all the activities. They have so much you can do, see and eat. They even have circus performers. This is definitely a place were both, adults and kids can have fun. It was great!”

“This is our go to place for picking strawberries every year! Lots of parking! Never long lines to get a wagon ride out to the fields! Friendly staff! Easy check outs! Have wagons to use to carry your strawberries to your car! Love strawberry donuts and fresh squeezed lemonade too!”

“Lovely farm! Very accommodating with our son’s mobility requirements. The staff was welcoming and friendly.”

“My kids and I had a great time at this place , it was so many attractions that all of my girls enjoyed . It was a nice layout as well. The ladies working at the ticket booth were extremely nice and welcoming . the only thing that disappointed me was when we ordered our beverages the coffee drinks my 2 youngest girls ordered didn’t come with a lid which was fine but she tried serving them overflowing . Coffee and cream were clearly running down the side of the cup and I asked her to please transfer them to a bigger cup because we all had on light colors and nice attire that we didn’t want to have to clean stains out of. She granted my request but it was very clear that her demeanor had changed as if I were wrong for requesting the issue be fixed . The second cup that we transferred the drink into she actually made me do that one myself. Also my kids are only 7 & 11 and we were new to the place so we weren’t sure the names of the drinks but they had explained to her they wanted a fancy drink with a donut as they saw on a picture and they did not end up getting that because it was not explained to them the options . By the time I found this out the order was already placed and I didn’t want to hold the line up . (The 2 youngest had ran ahead of me & started ordering and were finished when I arrived )”

“Almost $23 per person over 2 years old to get in. Lots of free activities. But still much you need to pay extra for also. Cost of food and beverage is also high dollar. If you have the money, you could easily spend the entire day.”

“On Thursday, June 11, 2026 we picked strawberries at Basse's farm in Colgate which is an annual event for us. The berries are delicious and the employees and fellow strawberry pickers are the best! It is well organized and effortless to get on the tractor driven wagon that takes you to the fields. My childhood is filled with memories of my mom making strawberry pies every summer. She grew her own berries in her garden. I'm continuing her tradition but I didn't get her gardening gene. I go to Basse's to pick my berries because luckily I did inherit her baking gene. When I got home with my berries I made 2 pies that day. Then I invite friends over to enjoy them. I will be making 2 more pies on Sunday to share them with our next group of friends. No one ever turns us down because people don't bake anymore and it's a real treat for all. Basse's berries bring people together----At the farm and afterwards to enjoy some homemade love. Thanks, Joann and Mike D.”

“Cute little farm. The sunflowers were struggling. The zinnias were beautiful but very muddy. The cost for adding on flowers seemed a bit high. Lots of goodies for purchase inside. I really enjoyed the pumpkin apple bread. I wish there was an entrance option without apple picking (we had 3 people but only wanted 2 bags got picking)”
