What you can pick
In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for New York, not a guarantee for this exact farm.
Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in New York.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Best Berry Farm was small, but very well maintained farm. There were dozens of people in the strawberry fields picking away with plenty of room and space from the next group. The berries were delicious and perfectly ripe when we picked 9lbs! These amazing summer rubies were turned into preserves that will last well into the winter reminding me of the amazing day my family had at Best Berry! 🍓”

“Great berry picking farm. I drove 30-40min there just to realize I left my wallet in a different purse (or something, idk why it wasn’t on me), and she still allowed me to pick berries. I came an paid the next week when I’d told her my day off was. It was nice to encounter a kind, trusting stranger.”

“Amazing experience! The price is great compare to other farms, the berries are small but that’s what natural strawberries supposed to be! Made a cake out off it👌 so far my husband’s favorite”

“This is a really nice little farm. Keep an eye on Facebook for changing hours but that flexibility leads to great picking, even at the end of the season.”

“Looked up this farm to go strawberry picking. Saw beautiful fruit that was posted 6 days ago and wanted to support a smaller farm. Google hours said they were open, we drove 20mins to get there and they were closed. My family doesn’t have social media so checking Facebook wasn’t an option. Call before you go and don’t trust the hours posted on google. I am willing to update my review if I get to actually go and pick strawberries.”
