What you can pick
In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Maine, not a guarantee for this exact farm.
Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Maine.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I went to blackberry creek to buy the following items: Sourdough bread, cookie bar, and buffalo wing popcorn. All three of these items were magnificent. The sourdough bread is some of the best homemade bread I have ever tasted. I toasted it and put butter on it and it was just so so warm and fluffy and crunchy. I’m glad it’s so close to me.”

“Located on a quiet back road in Newport , this lovely farm stand is the picture of summer in Maine. Filled with fruit and veg, chive vinegar, and local crafts, the folks at Blackberry Creek Farm have done a great job. Whether you're a native, or just passing through, this little farm stand is worth a stop!”

“My husband and I stopped by Blackberry Creek Farm and loved checking out their beautiful new farm store space! The strawberries we purchased are the best we've ever tasted, and we really enjoyed Jon's Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar. We can't wait for vegetable harvesting time!”

“The property is beautifully landscaped and the produce is fresh picked and delicious. The raspberries and blueberries are some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Jon and Rachel are great people to deal with exactly what you expect in a country farm stand.”

“This is the nicest little stand! The berries are refrigerated and everything is so fresh! I bought a few basil plants and some garlic to make pesto, and the lady came out and offered me some shapes from her own freezer to add to it!!”

“Beautiful store & lots of Maine made goodies! Best sourdough bread around, made fresh! The owners are exceptionally welcoming and friendly people!”

“Plenty of items but it's self serve. The square charged for one item without a problem. For the life of me I couldn't get it to register the second item. I added it to cart. Added my name and that still didn't make a difference. So, I put back the 2 items and left the store.”
