What you can pick

In October, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for Georgia, not a guarantee for this exact farm.

Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Georgia.

  • Check whether this stop is a stand, orchard tour, or full farm experience before you arrive.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Payment notes on file: Mastercard. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“One of the best wineries in Georgia! Our group of women (and two babies) did the VIP tour and it exceeded all of our expectations!!! Georgia wines don't have a great reputation, but the wines at Buckley rival those of the wineries in California, more than the Georgia ones. If you don't feel like reading the long description of the experience, just know that it is WORTH EVERY CENT and many of us who went are currently on their site buying bottles of our favorites! Will 100% be going back when we make our way back north. _____________________________________ At the start of the tour Kevin, the owner, took us around the winery and was so knowledgeable and willing to answer any and all questions we had. He broke down the entire process, showed us the different types of wines and barrels, and even gave us a history of the naming of all the wines. Then he gave us several samples straight out of the barrels (which was just a cool experience itself). No part of the process was left out and you can tell that Kevin not only has a passion for what he does, but he loves getting to share that passion with anyone he can! From there we went to the tasting room/event center and were greeted by every single person they had on staff! Rick, the general manager was just about the nicest person I've ever met, and the entire bar staff was so nice and helpful in getting all of our selections for our wine flights. Once we had our flights we got to just relax and enjoy each others company, while we decided what we wanted to go back to the bar for our full glass. Concluding our trip, Rick and the rest of the staff came out, gave each of us a branded wine glass to take with us, and thanked us for coming out. Ultimately, Buckley Winery feels less like a business and more like a community of wine lovers who open their arms to new family!”

“Loved the winery! Wines great! The manger & employees very kind. They had a food truck outside, not connected, when we went for the Kevin Kenney concert last night. Great music. Pay separate for concerts. There is a great area outside with strung lights over the area in the photo when dark. Surrounded by pastures. But, there was also an area with all kinds of snacks for a charcuterie board. Make your own with high quality local foods. They have a paddle board & knife to borrow. They blankets came in handy when chilly last night. Absolute jewel.”

“We had such a wonderful experience at Buckley Vineyards! From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel so welcome. A special thank you to Tammy and Terri! They were incredibly kind, friendly, and made our visit even more enjoyable with their outstanding hospitality. The wine was excellent with something for every palate, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. We can't wait to come back and would highly recommend Buckley Vineyards to anyone visiting the Ellijay area!🍷”

“We had a great time at the Buckley Vineyards. We loved it so much that we stopped in at the tasting room in downtown Ellijay the following day. We had a great sampling of their wines. My favorite was the Chenin Blanc. It actually rivaled some of the better Chenin Blancs I had in South Africa. The winery had a really good live music act playing. We also enjoyed the food truck. I highly recommend Buckley Vineyards.”

“Great wine and amazing atmosphere. Beautifully designed. My only suggestion would be to serve all tastings at once instead of tokens. 2 oz pours requires you to go back to the bar too often and if it’s busy it takes awhile. Lovely place and I highly recommend if visiting wineries in GA.”

“Easily one of the best vineyard tasting experiences I've had. This place has a great atmosphere, amazing wines, reasonable prices and friendly people. Love to visit here with my wife.”

“I Hosted a wine tasting bus trip from Atlanta. Out of the 3 wineries we visited Buckley was the favorite among my guests. Friendly staff, nice band and tasty wine.”

“Delicious Bites! Excellent Service! Beautiful Decor! Our Server, Tiffany, was the Best!”
