A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.

“It was a sunny weekend, and we wanted to try a water activity, so I headed to Carrigan Farms. The 25-foot-deep quarry is beautiful, clean, and fed by a natural underground spring. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Since I don't know how to swim, I was nervous about entering the water. The lifeguards, staff, and my friends reassured me that the life jacket would keep me safe, and their encouragement gave me the confidence to jump in. I'm so glad I did! It was a refreshing and fun experience, and I had an amazing time swimming with friends. Afterward, we grabbed some food and drinks, which was the perfect way to relax after being in the water. Overall, it was a fantastic day, and I can definitely see myself coming back here regularly to unwind and enjoy the quarry.”

“I had a great time at Carrigan Farms!!! The place was beautiful with clear, cold water that felt so refreshing. They provide life jackets at the entrance. The entry fee was $40 if you book online in advance and you need to sign a liability waiver online too. If you pay with cash it’s only $30. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Even after closing hours they have let us buy food and gave us extra fresh and tasty watermelon slices. I would definitely recommend visiting!!!!”
