Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Iowa.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We recently hosted a graduation party at Colony Acres Family Farm, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, the entire experience was exceptional. Booking was simple and straightforward, communication was prompt, and Katie was absolutely wonderful to work with. She is professional, organized, responsive, and genuinely cares about helping events run smoothly. The venue itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and offered incredible value for everything it provided. Our guests loved the setting, and it was the perfect backdrop for celebrating such a special milestone. If you're looking for a venue that combines charm, professionalism, and outstanding customer service, Colony Acres Family Farm is it. We couldn't have been happier with our experience and would absolutely book there again in the future.”

“We’ve been going to Colony Acres for over 12 years - it’s a favorite fall tradition for all three of our kids. This year, we fit a visit in between activities, so we appreciated the ability to come in and buy pumpkins and treats without paying an additional admission. We’ve watched how Katie and Dean have grown their farm while deeply caring for and maintaining a focus on community. A wonderful local family business to support that values service and giving back!!”

“Lots of fun and playtime at the pumpkin patch. The ride, bounce pad and rubber slide are all fantastic. The kiddos were educated on how pumpkins are grown and each kid gets to bring home a pumpkin of their choice. Little fun in a small, great, and upcoming city in IA. I'm loving every bit of our little adventures 💖.”

“This was a great visit! Beware that the path up to the patch is bumpy and hard to navigate with strollers and wagons but once past that the grass is easier to navigate. It is still bumpy but better There were lots of activities and plenty of space and seating”

“Wonderful place to go for families, couples, or anyone looking for a little fall fun. The staff is incredibly nice and the apple cider slushees are amazing! Super fun for everyone And so fun to go out into the Field and pick your own pumpkins!”

“My children had a blast today! Every single staff member was helpful and we will be back to play and learn again.”

“It was fun! Great for entire family. Tweets and teens may find the activities more geared towards younger kids. My 10 year old enjoyed the big slide, the bounce pad, the zip line, and the hamster wheel. Tractor ride is about 15 min long and free. You need to purchase tickets for the paintball and the corn shooter. They have alcohol (seltzers) and beer. 2 types of doughnuts: glazed apple cider or cinnamon sugar apple cider sold each by half a dozen for $8. They also have doughnut holes. Apple cider slushies for $6. They have other items for sale, along with a few other things to eat. Pet friendly. I recommend purchasing tickets online in advance- save yourself $3 a ticket. Cute place!”

“Great place right in town that's easy & convenient! Very well-run with a lot to do. Very creative games & activities to do in a small area. It's a little expensive if you're just looking to stop by for a little bit or watch your kids play ($6-$10/person, can't remember the exact cost)”
