Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Virginia.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Update: 2022, our 2nd year visiting Gallmeyer. It was great but I feel they need new vendors. These folks want $10 for a smoothie, $10 for fries and chicken tenders. I'm not sure if that's the going rate for vendors but I do feel there are better ones out there. Also, maybe someone could set up a booth/tent with coffee and donuts at a reasonable price, just a thought. This was our first visit to Gallmeyer Farm and I can honestly say that I will be taking my grandchildren back again, year after year! This place was awesome and the best part, it was affordable. We went on 10/2/21 at about 10:30 a.m. and it was not crowded, excellent parking, and the playground, pumpkin patch, the hay bale maze, hay ride and vendors were all excellent. If you haven't been, go!”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was our first time visiting Gallmeyer Farms for pumpkins, and I’m so happy we found them! They’re definitely more affordable than other pumpkin patches around town, and the selection was amazing. Steve was so kind and helped me pick out (and load up!) quite a few pumpkins so I could deck out my porch. Now I have the festive fall porch of my dreams! We’ll definitely be back next year. 🎃🍁”

“We have been coming here for years to get our pumpkins to carve into jack o lanterns for Halloween. Fun to take the wheelbarrow out in the field and select your pumpkins. Lots to choose from even with Halloween being a few days away. Great spot for pictures. They have a hayride, maze and a play area for kids. Hidden spot in the East end near the airport.”

“Yes this place is simple and no frills! However its a local tradition and lovely family farm who supplies our community with pumpkins, produce, jams, jellies and berries! The family and the workers are fantastic and friendly! The best prices around! Free hayride, hay bale maze even if small is superfun! Plus love the play area! My clients had a blast!”

“Nice family activity free hay rides and a hay maze they also put in some swingsets and slides so that the kids have some more things to do it's a short walk to the field where you can pick whatever size pumpkin 🎃 you want...They had a nice supply of very healthy looking mums in beautiful colors..there was also a few food vendors. The only thing I had a slight issue with was the pumpkins are sold by the pound ...my daughter bought a pumpkin about the size of a basket ball or a tad smaller $14.00 a little pricey”

“Kids loved this place 💓. The small maze was FREE, the long spooky hayride was FREE! The swing set was fun and there was a HUGE variety of pumpkins and fruits and veggies to purchase. Cotton candy, funnel cakes and drinks were available for a reasonable rate.”

“The staff are friendly and the free tractor ride is nice (and bumpy!). The playground is "well loved" to put it nicely. The pumpkin selection is good. The best part is this place is their close up town location. It's not huge and overwhelming like some of the larger operations.”

“Not the pumpkin patch experience I was expecting. It looks like someone bought a pallet pumpkins from Walmart and scattered all over”
