Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Check whether this stop is a stand, orchard tour, or full farm experience before you arrive.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Payment notes on file: American Express, Mastercard, VISA. Cash still helps at smaller stands.

“A True Local Gem! Grasshopper Farms is an absolute delight! The staff are exceptionally nice, pleasant, and knowledgeable, making every visit a pleasure. They specialize in beautiful, locally grown perennials, trees, and bushes, perfect for any garden. Beyond the plants, their charming old-fashioned general store offers a fantastic selection of specialty preserves and fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. You'll also find all your gardening needs, from mulch to unique lawn ornaments and plant containers. In season, enjoy fun strawberry picking, delicious locally made ice cream, and great coffee. Plus, their collection of antiques adds a unique touch, making every visit a treasure hunt. It's truly a wonderful local spot with something for everyone!”

“I had a great time at this strawberry farm! The strawberries were sweet and delicious. A bucket costs $20, which felt reasonable for the experience. Since it’s the end of the season, finding good strawberries was a bit of a challenge, which made it feel like a fun treasure hunt. Overall, a nice outdoor activity and fresh, tasty berries! 🍓”

“Incredible place! Outdoor nursery with great selections and varieties of flowers, hanging baskets, fruits, herbs and spring vegetables. On the other side of the fence is a pay to enter playground which is IMPRESSIVE! Blowup bounce houses and slide. Swings and a sand pit. Gem mining is another add on but pretty fun!”

“We had the absolute best time here! My son is autistic & gets easily overstimulated and he had the BEST time picking strawberries! The cutest farm ever, all the plants & flowers were so gorgeous & well taken care of and the little store was so cute! Cant wait to go back!”

“Had a very fun visit today! 1st time visiting! Definitely had the ambience of the holidays at every turn! Extremely talented craftspeople selling their goods at the Makers Market, and at very affordable prices! Very nice folks work here! Loved it all!”

“A cute place to visit! You have to pay for access to the playground and there isn’t a lot of shade over there but the kids enjoyed it! A little underwhelmed at the strawberries but maybe the drought we’re in has something to do with it. Ice cream was delicious and the strawberry lemonade was perfect on such a hot day. But for $5.75 it should be a little more lemonade and a little less ice. The entire cup was filled with ice and there was not much lemonade in it. Ask for light ice! They don’t offer refills. Overall a nice place.”

“Came for the egg hunt- my poor toddler only got 4 prizes in his 18 eggs but he enjoyed the playground and the tractor ride. Did not try the ice cream, but happy to meet the Easter bunny!”

“We bought tickets for the Easter event, but it was very disorganized and disappointing. We arrived at 11:10 for the 11:30 toddler egg hunt and immediately ran into confusing entry lines. A sign directing guests to get wristbands pointed us to the wrong line, and after waiting we realized no wristbands were being given there. We had to switch lines and wait again while one staff member slowly handed them out. When we pointed out the sign was incorrect, she acknowledged it but nothing was done to fix it or redirect people. By the time we got in at 11:31, the toddler egg hunt had already finished, so our toddler missed it completely (which resulted in lots of tears). The rest of the event wasn’t much better. Bounce houses were overcrowded and unsupervised, with big kids and toddlers mixed together. The hayride was just a short ride around an empty field, and we did not see the advertised chickens. We ended up joining the older kids’ hunt just so our child could participate at all and half the eggs were empty. Positives: the Easter Bunny was easy to access for photos, the playground is nice, and the goats were cute. Overall, not worth the cost. I would not attend again without very low expectations.”
