Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We have been going to pope’s Strawberry Farm for the past 5 years now, sad we missed this year since we moved, but I really wanted to recommend anyone who would really like something fresh. Had been our family tradition which is going to be sadly missed. The quality is unmatched- you truly cannot compare these to grocery store berries.”

“Still open after other fields have closed. The strawberries are great.”

“First of all, they only accept cash or checks — no credit cards. The pricing was great at $20 for a bucket. We had so much fun picking strawberries, and they tasted really good. Im totally fine with them not allowing you to pile the strawberries above the top level of the bucket. But I heard the owner tell the person in front of me, “Next time, don’t do this”, and I could see her getting uncomfortable. This came across as very unfriendly.”
