Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Virginia.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We got tickets online the night before for the Pumpkin 🎃 Festival. Unfortunately it was a rainy day, but we decided to venture out anyways. Very glad we did. Even though it was wet and a little muddy, lines were short and the place wasn't packed. We've been at this before where we had to wait almost 20mins to get on the Hayride to go pick your pumpkins. Today we had no wait and the whole ride to ourselves. Lots of little activities to do, especially for the kids. They had live 🎶, lots of food trucks and vendors. Few goats and chickens were out to feed. They have corn cannons and a hide and seek tent set up. We had a good muddy walk through the corn maze. Wife got a 🍷 slushy and a beer. The Apple Cider and Apple Cider doughnuts were amazing. Finished the day after picking our pumpkins with fried oreos and a funnel cake. Great family fun, even on a wet and dreary day!”

“We came for the Strawberry and Wine Festival. While we enjoyed walking around and seeing all the different vendors and wineries, I would have liked for the $50.00 ticket to have included some food. We found the tastings to be nice, but very small samples poured. This was our first time at this event. The strawberries were delicious & sweet!”

“This is an exciting venue. Recently, we went there to pick pumpkins with the family, hang out with friends, shop and enjoy live entertainment. Over the years, we have attended many musical and festival events here. Great place to be!”

“Decent Veggie Farm for field trips. Bounce Houses, goats, corn maze, pumpkin picking, Pavillion to eat, and plenty of open areas. Kids had a great time. Would like to have seen more instructional components as it was a field trip (life cycle of a pumpkin, healthy eating, pollination, etc)”

“We attended the "Wing Fest" anticipating fun times and great wings. Aside from the extreme heat, which was an act of God, the venue itself was miserable, being over crowded and having only porta potties to relieve yourself. However they did have a nice indoor bar, but you couldn't use the restrooms, only the outdoor porta potties which were about 150 degrees inside, and no facilities to clean the sloppy and sticky wing residue from your fingers. We had to clean our hands with the ice from our drinks. On top of that, there were only a few vendors, some of which were ill prepared, not having wings, or waiting for delivery, or just running out of wings in the first few hours. The lines were extremely long, taking up to 30-45 minutes to get food. To top it all off, the wings were ordinary at best and grossly under cooked. I believe the event owners cared more about the money, charging $15 or $20 just to park, than they cared for their patrons. The event itself could have been called anything, perhaps even the "Just Because We Want Your Money Fest". We won't return.”

“VIP tickets for The Border concert was a RIP OFF. $125 NO seating, VERY long line and wait at bar, and sound was TERRIBLE. I left VIP section to sit in a chair outside the VIP, was not allowed to take my beer with me and was not allowed to take the chair back to VIP. What a JOKE!”
