Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Indiana.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“Exploring Shelby County we found Harker Family Orchard. We saw rows of fruit trees in fields on both sides of SR 244, with a produce stand next to the house in their large driveway. 🪾 There we found lots of apples, some cider, local honey, and a variety of corn, peppers, and tomatoes. They had apple types not found in grocery stores. 🍏 We bought a bag of Pixie Crunch and Kinder Crisp, putting cash in the payment box. Apple Pay (hehe 🤭) and Venmo were also accepted.”

“Wonderful apples that are so fresh & crisp! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful about the many varieties they offer. We bought several different types, and they are full of flavor! When they found out I love pink lady apples, the farmer made a special trip to get me some, and I can't wait to try one!”

“I stopped in last weekend for some apples and the two varieties I bought were both delicious! I decided to get some sweet corn and it’s the best I’ve had in a while. And the best part was that they still had some peaches and they were juicy and delicious! I’ll definitely be making a trip back before winter!”

“Small farm store with sweet corn, tomatoes, green beans, and great selection of apples including several I had never heard of. Apples are delicious! Proprietor was friendly, knowledgeable, and very sweet, Accepted venmo”

“Best corn on the cob I have found. No peaches this year do to winter weather. Great apple orchard. Will definitely go there again next week. Fruit and veggies in the store don't compare to Harker Family Orchard.”

“We stopped here on our way home to northern Indiana after visiting family in Kentucky. Everything was so yummy!! We got corn, apples, peaches, cantaloupe, and more. Would definitely stop again”

“Stopped in today and bought apples for making applesauce and local honey for baking. Both came from the property. Not a very big market but had exactly what I was looking for. They have a wide variety to choose from and everything is fresh. Very helpfull and friendly people. Stop in and check it out. P.s.s. applesauce turned out great!”

“bought some plums at the farmers market today and they are mushy, mealy and the only flavor they have is bitter, for almost $5 i really expected more, does no one taste test the fruit before sending it out to be sold.”
