Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We decided to go strawberry picking, out of the blue, and chose to come here as it's not far from Winston-Salem. Very easy to get to. First time here. We had a fun time picking the strawberries. I did sample 2 of the dark red strawberries that were basking in the sun. WOW, very juicy, sweet and then warm, extreme strawberry flavor that was out of this world! Looking forward to coming back!”

“This was my first time here and I have to say that it is a really nice place to visit if you want fresh strawberries. The people who run the place are very polite and helpful and the strawberries are fairly priced at $20.00 cash and $21.00 if you pay with a card for a 1 gallon container. You can also pick your own. Stop in and give them a try!!”

“It was our first time picking strawberries with our 4-year old daughter and she loved it. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy or crowded. There are tons of rows to walk through and areas to space out. There were still plenty of good berries to pick and take home!”

“Such an adorable family farm! This is their 26th year with U pick strawberries! Bring cash and it's a little cheaper 😉🍓🍓🍓 Edit - came back for a second year. Sweetest strawberries around! Daughter made this beautiful cobbler after - color so bright, no food coloring!”

“Fair prices and not too crowded. We waited too long this year and between that and a lot of rain we were grateful to still find some beautiful berries in the field. We’ll definitely be back next year!”

“Freshest and tastiest strawberrys in the Triad! The folks are super nice. The farm is very clean and easy to navigate. Hedgecock Farm has been the only place we go for strawberrys.”

“It was my first time going strawberry picking, and the experience was great! Fresh and deliciously grown strawberries!”

“Wonderful strawberry picking experience. The staff were very nice!”
