Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Iowa.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Highly recommend checking this property out. Super friendly and has a lot to offer for everyone. Had a very nice experience. Thank you, Jefferson Orchard! Greg PHX, AZ”
“Very cute, owner was very friendly, apples and raspberries are delicious”
“Purchase some nice vegie, flower plants from greenhouse”
“Very friendly and good apples 🍎”
“Beware that the hours of operation don't necessarily mean someone will be there. We arrived during the hours posted on their website and on the Google listing and there was no one available. There was a sign posted with a number to call. It took me 10 or 15 minutes to get a signal. When I called the number no one answered. I appreciate that this is a family-owned small business, but I drove my kids 30 mins out here to tell them we they weren't able to experience the orchard.”
“Disappointing. No one was around and the property is very run down.”
