Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Iowa.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“My husband and I visited last weekend and it did not disappoint! We brought our dog along since they are dog friendly and took advantage of the photo ops and games. There was a large selection of different kinds of pumpkins and retail items to browse through inside. We also tried the apple cinnamon mini donuts and they were AMAZING! All this to say, we will be back again very soon and cannot recommend The Patch enough!”

“How have I not gone here prior to yesterday? Plus only $5 for all the photo ops?! Annnd just across the way from Main Street?! Loved the pumpkin patch so much and was able to bring my senior photography client for that perfect fall vibe! The gift shop is super cute too! Will have to come back to my toddler to do some of the little kid activities they have set up!”

“So 6 bucks each to go out and do all the kid activity. Games of all kinds the kids favorite was the piano. Yes playing piano outside at a punkin patch. Pumkins of all kinds shapes colors and prices. If ya got kids in cedar valley better get them out here fun time. To the owners great job its looking good.”

“Took the grandkids here (3yrs & 6yrs) this place is perfect for their age. Older kids would quickly get bored I think. I did see a lot of teen girls here posing for pictures though. It's a great place for a photoshoot, lots of spots & opportunities for that. Not very expensive at $6/person in 2025. No running water on site, porta-potties so plan ahead. They do have a little hand washing pump station but it ran out of water. The pumpkins are reasonably priced and they have a wonderful selection. Great place to stop by for a few pictures or with the kids to be outside for a bit!”

“Great place. Very fun! Huge selection of different pumpkins and gourds. Only issue we had was the corn for kids to play in. Full of green mold. That will make anyone sick that is in it. Ive farmed long enough to know that is not good for anyone. Could smell it when we walked in. Needs to be removed before someone is seriously sick from it.”

“We had a horrible experience here! The store is way overly priced!! The owner yelled at several of the kids in our group. One time said they were throwing the “axes” too hard when they were just trying to make it to the board. 2nd time he got upset they left a toilet seat lid a foot from the stick it’s thrown on. 3rd got upset when they were throwing the football into the net on the trailer . Said they didn’t need to throw it so hard Lastly he came over and kicked us out after seeing one of the kids roll a pumpkin. Said the kids were abusing their games. Needless to say we won’t ever be going back or supporting these kind of business owners!!”

“Not a place for older children. The owner said the kids were being to rough with the way they were throwing the balls and axes. And leaving the toilet seats in the grass. We were asked to leave. Will not recommend this place .. Will never go back. Not much there anyway.”
