Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I would love to know how this place got started because it just seems like so much money invested into such a well thought out plan. From the parking lot wagon rides to the main center, to each building having its separate purpose. There is an apple cider donut building where you can watch them come out fresh, a boozy cider building selling their own alcoholic ciders, a bakery building selling some other baked goods, a giant kids indoor playground, and a market selling their apple themed goods and gifts (the only thing I would suggest here is more cashiers as so many people were in line to buy!) And of course you can head out and pick your own apples. As I grabbed an apple cider donut and chose it to enjoy on the gigantic porch filled with rocking chairs overlooking the apple orchards you can tell every piece of this place was thought about. This place is what people with money should build, and I will gladly be back to support it.”

“What a wonderful place! We visited last Saturday and arrived 30 minutes after it opened and parking was already filling up. Thankfully they have plenty of space to park. We tried the cider flight and it was delicious, ended up buying 6 cans of hard cider for home. The kids playground is great, covered and indoors. My son played there for 2.5 hours which is amazing considering kids nowadays are glued to their tablets. He loved being able to pick his own flowers and fruit. They also have a restaurant and gift shop, the Mac and cheese was excellent. Definitely a great family friend place to visit and enjoy the outdoors.”

“Jeter Mountain Farm is the perfect fall getaway! The orchard is absolutely breathtaking. Surrounded by rolling hills and stunning mountain views. Picking apples here is such a fun experience for all ages, and the variety of apples is perfect. The cider (especially the cider float) is fantastic!! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has such a peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere. Between the wagon rides, the market, and the live music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. I can’t wait to come back next season! 🍎🍂”

“Beautiful location, though as someone who does not regularly drive in the mountains, I would not want to make that trip in the snow. We were looking for a way to "just get out of town" and found that here. We went at a time when the orchards were no longer producing, but it was still a great experience. A decent amount of money was spent, but it isn't required. Hot chocolate by the fire, quality travel time with our (well-behaved) dog, souvenirs, and the kids had an absolute blast in the Johnny Appleseed playground.”

“We always have the best time at this family-run orchard! My husband, son, and I felt so welcomed by Mike, the owner, and his wonderful family. This year we picked delicious Winecrisp apples, admired the beautiful flowers, and enjoyed plenty of fun photo ops around the orchard. I got to sample their hard cider, while my husband and son loved the apple cider donuts and refreshing apple slushy. Visiting here has become a special fall family tradition for us, and we look forward to it every year. Highly recommend! 🍎🍂”

“Jeter Mountain Farm is a great spot for young families! We loved the scenic tractor wagon rides to pick sweet blueberries, and beautiful flowers, with helpful staff making it easy and fun for our little ones. The huge covered indoor playground was a huge hit for burning off energy, while we enjoyed warm cider donuts, delicious BBQ, ice cream, and stunning mountain views. Clean facilities, live music, and thoughtful amenities make it the perfect family outing—we’ll be back soon!”

“Loved this place so much! Came to visit the last weekend for U-pick. Still many apples on trees. The apples are the most juicy apples I have ever had! It is set up very well so even though it is super busy it isn’t overwhelming. Loved the wagon ride out to the orchard, beautiful scenery. HIGHLY recommended potato soup, it’s the best potato soup I’ve ever had. Also the bathrooms are very clean and private.”

“My favorite place to go to get peaches, apples, apple cider donuts and honestly just to hang out they have ice cream and food with kids play area. One of my favorites and not to mention the coffee shop they have seasonal drinks and the vibe is great there overall.”
