Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

What visitors say

“Our toddler had a great strawberry picking experience here (after a meltdown because he thought we were initially headed to the playground). Once he had his basket and found a picking row, he began counting the number of berries he picked (19) and talking about all the things we could make from his berries (cake, jelly, ice cream). An hour later, we paid for our baskets and headed to the market to pick up ingredients for a delicious strawberry shortcake. The owner was very polite and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this for parents who want to do something fun, interesting and screen-free with their child(ren)👍”

“This small farm had blueberries and blackberries that I picked personally. They are a good size and so very good 😆 I am in love❤️. Pay attention to the Facebook page as they are very active and they update what is ripe each day they are open and when they are picked out. Also they are very reasonable priced just keep in mind that it is all cash! No cards or checks. Also the man who runs it is very nice and will work with you if you only pick like half a pint he will adjust the price fairly. 100% would recommend”

“Amazing blueberries and blackberries right now. Many different varieties of blueberries. Their strawberries are always delicious. My favorite u-pick place in the whole of Henderson County and I’ve been to them all. The nicest family, best prices, and closest location to downtown Hendersonville. We’ve been picking here for six years and they’re the absolute best!”

“Went for blueberry and blackberry picking on a Monday late afternoon. The blueberries were great though the majority of the blackberries were not ripe yet. The owner was super friendly and helpful, even passing along a small discount to us since we were short on cash (it’s cash only).”

“Morning picking berries here is such a peaceful experience. JD is such a nice man. We feel very lucky to live so close, and have enjoying our picking trips here for 6 years.”

“We had a great time. Lots of Blue berries at a great price m. The owner was very friendly as well let my son set on his big tractor. We will be back”

“Lovely local u-pick farm, with excellent berries and Mr. Obermiller, the owner, is a wonderful storyteller!”

“Great people and great place to go pick blueberries. Will be back again before they close for the season.”
