A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Maryland.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“A drive through the rolling green hills and picturesque farmland is the perfect beginning to a visit to this incredible farm. Long before you arrive, the peaceful countryside sets the tone for what feels like a step back to a simpler way of life. The highlight of my visit was the breathtaking flower fields. For just $20, you receive a bucket and can wander through rows upon rows of stunning blooms, hand-selecting and clipping your own flowers to create a one-of-a-kind bouquet. I left with a gorgeous arrangement that easily would have cost $175 or more at a florist. Walking through the colorful rows, surrounded by butterflies dancing from flower to flower and bumblebees quietly at work, was one of the most peaceful and meditative experiences I've had in a long time. The children around me were absolutely mesmerized, excitedly exploring the endless variety of flowers and trying to choose their favorites. Beyond the flower gardens, the farm also offers pick-your-own fruits and vegetables, allowing visitors to wander the orchards and fields and harvest whatever is in season. If you'd rather skip the picking, the charming red barn is filled with freshly harvested produce, homemade jams, local honey, fresh breads, meats, and so many other delicious treats. There are picnic tables scattered throughout the property, along with a couple of food trucks, making it easy to spend an entire afternoon relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I visited in July, and it couldn't have been a more perfect day. Between the scenic drive, the peaceful flower fields, the fresh food, and the welcoming atmosphere, this farm was an unforgettable experience that I can't wait to visit again.”

“There's a lot on offer here, at least when we visited in early October. For pick-your-own, I believe they had flowers, cabbage, broccoli, and maybe one or two others. There was also a corn maze and various Halloween decorations up. For the pick-your-own fields, you drive down and park next to the field. Unfortunately we visited on a Friday, and apple picking was only open on Saturday and Sunday. You definitely need to check their website for the daily harvest updates before visiting. They also have a barn where they sell all sorts of goods, including fruits and vegetables, snacks, jams and salsas, dairy products, meats, and more. Plenty of restrooms available, but they are port-a-potties. That said, they seem pretty clean and they have sinks for hand washing.”

“My fiance and I have been going to Larriland for many years now! It is THE BEST farm to go to if you are looking for a friendly, welcoming, and engaging experience with lots of activities. Strawberry and blueberry picking is so much fun! Apple picking in the fall is also amazing. Their barn is filled to the brim with produce and local goods (the chocolate milk is the best). If you're looking for a fun activity in the spring, summer, or fall, I highly recommend taking your partner, family, and friends out to this wonderful, family operated local farm.”

“This past Saturday my family and I went to Larriland Farm to pick some strawberries 🍓 just like all the years before we had so much fun. The berries are always big ripe and juicy 😋. The staff is always friendly and greet you with a smile. We will be going back for the blueberries again this year. Never disappointed.”

“Larriland Farm is a hidden gem in Howard County, Maryland, offering an authentic and charming pick-your-own experience that’s perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to enjoy a day outdoors surrounded by nature’s bounty. We recently visited the farm and had a wonderful time picking blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. The fields were well-maintained and clearly marked, making it easy to navigate between berry patches. The fruit was incredibly fresh, sweet, and flavorful—you can really taste the difference between farm-fresh produce and what you’d typically find in a grocery store. These are the kinds of fruits that often don’t make it to market, and you can tell: they’re picked at the perfect moment of ripeness, not for shipping. In addition to the berries, Larriland offers a wide selection of fruits and vegetables throughout the growing season. From apples to pumpkins to leafy greens, there’s always something in season and available for picking or purchase at their market stand. One of the highlights of the trip was the “pick-your-own flowers” area. It’s a beautiful field filled with vibrant blooms where you can hand-select and cut your own bouquet. It’s a peaceful, scenic experience that adds a lovely touch to the visit. The farm is clearly well-loved and well-run. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the overall setup is very family-friendly. There are bags to carry your harvest, and even pre-picked produce and treats available if you prefer not to pick yourself. We absolutely enjoyed our visit and are already looking forward to returning again sometime. Whether you’re looking to stock up on seasonal fruits or simply enjoy a peaceful day outdoors, Larriland Farm is definitely worth the trip.”

“Extremely disappointing experience. We checked the orchard’s daily picking report before leaving, and it clearly stated that the blueberry crop had good picking. Based on that, we drove 40 minutes to the orchard. We arrived at 10:00 AM—only one hour after opening—so we expected plenty of berries to still be available. Instead, the blueberry bushes were almost completely picked over, with only scattered berries here and there. We spent about 20 minutes walking through multiple rows and still couldn’t even fill a small pint-sized container. Since the blueberries were so disappointing, we decided to switch to blackberries instead. Unfortunately, that wasn’t much better. Even among the berries that appeared fully ripe, roughly 70% were still very sour, making the experience even more disappointing. Advertising the blueberry crop as having “good picking” was simply misleading. The orchard should not have been advertising those conditions if there weren’t enough berries for customers arriving just one hour after opening. At the very least, the picking report should have been updated to reflect the actual conditions so customers could make an informed decision before driving out. We wasted over an hour of driving plus our time in the fields and left feeling frustrated. We won’t be relying on their daily picking reports again.”
