Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Texas.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We visit several times a year. Beautiful fruit and produce. Everything is picked fresh. Selection changes according to what's in season. We bought potatoes, strawberries, small plums and the very best blackberries. It's a nice drive from Waco and we usually have breakfast at the Drilling Rig on the way. We'll be back for beets and okra.”

“The first Saturday I stopped in at Bell Farmers market and bought their peaches I was convinced after sniffing them they were real peaches, they were fantastic.Juicy, sweet and memorable. 2nd weekend bought a case of peaches, shared with neighbors and made a cobbler and froze the rest. Best peaches in ages.”

“This is such a sweet group of people! I was at the Waco Farmer's Market for the first time and my daughter wanted a peach. They were so nice and just gave her one for free! It made her day! He was so friendly and ended up giving her some berries too. I will always buy from them at the market! Thank you!”

“I grew up getting fresh peaches, other fruits, and vegetables here. The legacy of the family business continues with Mary & Lisa. I love them. Many of my "greats" worked for the parents of Mary & Lisa. And they too were amazing people. I recommend them one thousand percent.”

“I love going to Lightsey Farms. It brings back childhood memories. I’ve been going since I was a little girl with my mom and dad. Great fresh veggies and the fruit is fantastic, especially the peaches and watermelons!”

“Love stopping at a farm stand. This one was clean and had TONS of delicious produce. If the figs are in season, they are too tasty to pass up. Would definitely recommend to anyone!”

“Miss leading. Roadside Stand that sells store bought quality products. Tomatoes were no where near vine ripened, hard and no taste. Whole fig preserves has stems still on them. Farm Style pickles are very hot. No where on the label does it indicate that, but I guess if I would have shaken the jar I would have seen the Jalapeños in it. Peaches were nothing but knots (didn't buy any). Won't be going back.”
