Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in New York.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained; berry juice and field mud travel home with you.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“We went for PYO apples today and it was quite an experience. You get to decide between a small ($15, fits between 15-20 apples) or large bag ($20), then off you go into the orchards. We also picked up some donuts and they were the best donuts I’ve had so far. Not overly sweet, with a soft and fluffy texture. We regretted that we only took half a dozen. With half a dozen priced at $5, it’s a steal! There are some picnic tables, potable toilets and hand wash around the farm so it‘s also perfect if you intend to picnic on-site.”

“Got to the orchard a little bit after they opened on a Saturday. My wife and I knew we were in for some walking,so we took our cart and made a go of it. We picked 2 big bags of apples and found a great selection of nice fresh apples throughout the orchard. The only issue was that there were a lot of apples that were ready to pick off the tree were split. I guess the weather had something to do with that. All in all,a very beautiful day and can’t wait til next year.”

“Beautiful orchard we go every October for pumpkins and apple picking the owner gave us a tour on the tractor ride it was so interesting to hear all the updates in apple trees like grafting 2 trees together or using an old tree to start new tree growth. There is also veggies for sale and hot apple cider and we love the corn maze and children’s play area.”

“Great experience for Apple picking! Apples were delicious, and picnic areas were perfect to take a rest having apple cider, donuts, or some snacks! Kids also could enjoy times at the beautiful play ground. Especially hey ride($2/person) and corn maze($5/person) were more interesting than I expected! We will come back here again!”

“Fantastic experience. Only about 2 hrs from NYC. Vast variety of apples and pick your own vegetables is super awesome. We have been going here for years and it's been wonderful.”

“This could easily be a 5 star orchards/farm., but I can’t do it. Sooo we tried out the 🌽 maze, but no one told us about the map, that’s behind where you pay and a second map should really be at the 🌽 maze entrance. I’m just saying, no one told us about the map, so after an hour+ in the maze I had to call for an SOS. The maze is probably awesome if someone told me about the map (see in my photos - the map, that is). The layout of the orchards are really cool and the feeling just screams happiness.”

“Nice apple/fruit/vegetable farm. Not too far from NYC, so it is a relaxing day trip. You hear the birds, see the bees, and beautiful butterflies including monarchs. Prices are ok. Apple cider donuts are good too.”

“Mead Orchards are for serious apple pickers. There’s acres of different varieties of apples. There’s no pumpkin patches or apple cider donuts. Regardless, this is the spot if you want to pick apples.”
