Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in New York.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I recently visited Rose Hill Farms with my girlfriend, and we had an absolutely fantastic time! The farm is conveniently located on the way to Hudson Valley from the city, making it an ideal stop for anyone heading that direction. One of the first things we noticed was the ample parking, which made our visit even more hassle-free. The campus is expansive, with multiple buildings to explore, and we really enjoyed the variety of offerings. We tried the wine and mead, both of which were delicious. We couldn’t resist picking up a local bottle to enjoy on the charming rear deck. From there, we had a stunning view overlooking the beautiful flowers and apple orchards—a perfect spot to relax and take in the peaceful surroundings. To top it off, there were food trucks on-site, and we lucked out because it was taco day! The combination of great drinks, amazing scenery, and delicious food really made for a memorable experience. I absolutely loved the atmosphere up here and can’t wait to come back again. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick visit or planning to spend the day, Rose Hill Farms offers a little something for everyone. Highly recommend!”

“Had a wonderful time cherry picking. Lots of variety of sweet and tart cherries. Personally the tart are a bit much for me, but loved the cherry. Check their social media because they update with accurate quantities and varieties daily. We arrived at 9:45 and it was quiet, but by the time we left on a Saturday afternoon it was quite crowded. There are food trucks and alcohol bottles also for purchase. Cherries were $9 a pound, so you have to keep in mind you are supporting local here and coming for the experience, not just a good deal. Highly recommend. All of the fruit we have ever picked here has been low spray and high quality.”

“We came here for my bachelorette trip and had an amazing time. The wine and ciders were so delicious and it was so easy to make a reservation. You had to pay to make it, but it was very worth it because it guarantees a table for a large group. The staff were lovely and let us hangout a bit past closing while we waited for our Ubers. If we’re ever in town will definitely come back!!”

“We been here multiple times for wine and drinks in the "barn" and lunch/dinner from the food truck; for apple picking in the fall; and summer family birthday party in the back, under the tented tables. Gyro food truck but others seem to rotate. Great experience every time, nice people. Great place for kids.”

“Had such a lovely time picking apples, sitting around a fire, eating apple cider donuts and drinking apple cider. We also got a big pumpkin. The Greek food truck served up some delicious food, too. Kind staff. Beautiful barn that houses a bar and little gourmet shop, too.”

“Such a nice area to grab a quick and peaceful drink in the Red Hook, New York region Awesome to see a little piece of History too (Uncle Jack’s Farm)”

“Great place, many types of apples, different flavors, some greats other not as great, but you can experience taste all in one day. Don't forget to get donuts and apple cider.”

“Beautiful grounds but the service was lacking and unwelcoming. There was one bartender working and she was a bit stand offish and unaccomodating. We decided not to linger. We did check out the cherry blossoms on the way out and had a wonderful time taking in the views. Def would be a great place if it was more welcoming and friendly.”
