A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Millstone Creek Orchards absolutely blew my expectations out of the water — and it was well worth the hour drive! This place has something for everyone — adults and children alike — with so many fun seasonal activities, from picking fruit and exploring the grounds to taking part in their Autumn Adventure featuring the most adorable Highland cows 🐮🍂. Their Cider House is another must-do! They serve a great mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including refreshing mocktails. I loved the Peach Moscato frozen drink — it was the perfect treat for one of those fall days that still feel like summer! 😅 Their food menu was solid, but the real showstopper? The apple cider donuts — warm, fluffy perfection. 🍩 I’m already planning a return trip just to try their apple cider float one day! If you’re looking for a cozy, family-friendly destination with small-town charm and big-flavor treats, this is the spot. Definitely a hidden gem for your fall bucket list! 🍁”

“Loved our time here enjoying the poppy field and seeing the baby highland cows! The hayride gave a nice view of all the orchards and the apple slushie was amazing! Picked up some peach 🍑 mango 🥭 salsa and jam which we can't wait to try. The store has so many goodies - popcorn, pickles, so many jams including low sugar options and they serve ice cream and donuts out back. Today they had vendors set up selling homemade items, meat, flowers and eggs. There was catch and release fishing and a really fun playground area with huge tires and a rock wall that my toddler loved. Truly something for everyone here, very accommodating staff, and reasonable prices. We want to come back to try their restaurant because we didn't have time to today.”

“This is a great find! My wife found this place on a whim and we got on the motorcycles and rode out there. Met both of the owners in different parts of the farm, one in the cider house and the other on the hay ride. It is nice to see the owners taking part of the operations at that level. Taking the time to talk to people goes a long way. All of the employees were nice to us and the rest of the customers. The cider house had great food and drinks. It is nice to take the drinks with you around the property, even on the hay ride. Both of the baby highland cows were cool to be around and talk to the handlers. I also like that the food comes in a to-go container when you order it. Would recommend this to anyone.”

“This is was the best pumpkin patch I never knew about! At millstone they were very organized in how they ran things. You buy a ticket and follow the instructions by being there 15 minutes early. There is close parking and further away, but it’s not bad.Earlier the better chances of a close spot! Someone instructs you on what to do next and the rest is for you to decide! They had a short hay ride to tour the orchard and farm, sunflowers, a variety of pumpkins, a cute store, a great restaurant to eat lunch, and last but not least freebies that come with buying a ticket there. Cider slushie and apple cider donuts were the best! Only negative- not a stroller friendly path available.”

“We had such a wonderful experience at the Orchard's educational tour! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. Their warmth and enthusiasm set the tone for the entire visit. The information they shared about blooms, bees and the Orchard's operation was engaging, making it both educational and fun for everyone, especially the kids, who absolutely loved every moment. There was plenty of space to explore, and the outdoor play area was the perfect way to end our visit, enjoying ice cream and homemade apple slushies. Highly recommend for families looking for a meaningful and fun outing!”

“What a great place! There’s fun for all ages from apple cider & ice cream to doughnuts, kettle corn, charcuterie boards, flat bread, burgers & fries. There are hayrides for the kids, a store of preserves, jelly, honey, soap & desserts and live music on special occasions. Enjoy the picnic tables, clean restrooms & orchard picking fun.”

“The Orchard is a beautiful place to go sit by the water and relax. Strawberries are in season so they have warm strawberry mini donuts with strawberry glaze to dip them in. The donuts are delicious. The grounds are beautiful. The employees are friendly and treat you like family.”
