What you can pick
In August, check what’s currently ripe before you go. Seasons below are typical windows for North Carolina, not a guarantee for this exact farm.
Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“I had a great time learning about this place and looking through all of the options. I am excited to check out the meat area next time and come back for the $25 back + one free item (which i did today as well). The free item this week was heavy cream, butter, or a pineapple! You can definitely save money doing the bag deal which gets filled up until the handle breaks! There are also free herbs like mint, rosemary, cilantro and one other. It is also family owned! I made agua de jamaica as well all from this stand. Right now is also off season so something to remember “If it grows, it goes” is the policy for the bag lol!”

“First time visiting this past Saturday and I was very impressed. I am from Michigan and wish we could be as fortunate to have something similar. This gem offers delicious fruits and vegetables all in a bag for $25 plus we were there on the 2 freebies day. The apple cider was delicious and every item we purchased was fresh. Bryan who assisted us was so extremely kind and helped brighten my day for sure. Thank you so very much! Some of these folks do not seem to appreciate this place but this Michigander will be back on my next visit to Durham. Sending love from the north.”

“I’d come across the Orchard through an IG reel and I had to check it out for myself. I live in East Raleigh and RARELY travel to Durham but I’m so glad that I did! We met the owner and he gave us the full history of the farm stand and showed us around. This place is clean, organized, and such a great deal for a beautiful variety of produce. The fill a bag for $25 is a sweet deal. I got everything I need for a fantastic Mexican inspired meal. Get yourself to Perkins Orchard and get yourself a bag full of goodness!”

“Just moved to the area and found this produce stand, and it is my favorite thing I’ve found yet. The $25 bag you can fill up is amazing. They also have things like soup mixes, pickles, meat from farmers, candy, and flavored maple syrup in one of the buildings. The owner was really nice and it was awesome to hear his story! You can tell he really cares about people and his community.”

“The best Saturday that I have had in some time. We will definitely be going back. We were greeted by the owner, Mr. Devon and he gave us a tour and history lesson on how Perkins Orchard came to be. We were sooo impressed. We took advantage of the great $25 fill-a-bag deal. Amazing experience ❤️”
