Before you go

A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in North Carolina.

  • Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
  • Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
  • Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
  • Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Had a wonderful family day picking apples at Perry Lowe Orchards in Moravian Falls. Perfect weather, so many apple varieties, lots of stuff to entertain kids, etc. Not only are they affordable, but it's set up as a great family oriented experience. We saw so many different varieties of families from friends & couples, to multi-generational families like ours. The young people who work here were patient and kind to all. The store by the orchard was spotless with two restrooms inside and two port-a-potties outside. Besides picking apples, they had a slide and play area for kids ($5 wristband, unlimited), a little trolley painted like bumblebees, and an apple cannon. The store had packaged mixes, local honey, and different varieties of cider. Their freshly made apple cider donuts and apple fritters were delicious but the warm apple cider (not pictured) warmed my soul and body. Definitely on the calendar for all of us to return next year!”

“Hands down best place to go not only for apple picking but also other kids activities. $2 entrance fee and they have $9 or $16 bags for apple pickup. Truck to take you to far off fields but check what apples you wish you pick and location before getting on to truck. We took truck and walked back to parking lot but it would have been easier other way as Fuji became our favorite but they were at last and we were not able to walk back. Water to clean and try apples and well named apple trees. Lot of fruits to pick. Few kids activities like slide $5 unlimited, canon shot $5 for 10 shots, bee train and jumping pad $4. Normal slide and swing. Store with apple cider, slushy, donuts at top near orchard and at base with more direct pickup apples.”

“This place was perfect for adults or small children who don’t want a huge orchard or big crowds. If you have older kids and want a ton of activities you may be better off elsewhere. Petty Lowe was organized and provided ab enjoyable experience. We bought a large bag of apples, a gallon of cider, and a few baked goods. We made an appointment online and it was a seamless process to sign in. The apples tasted good and there was plenty of variety when we went. Having their website recently updated with current options was helpful. The only thing I would add is one more apple washing station (to taste the apples grown closer to the parking area).”

“This is the nicest little shop! I have been wanting to stop on for a while now and finally did today. Definitely will be back! They have all kinds of good stuff to buy and try. The lady working the front was so nice and sweet! :-) If you do stop in, be sure to grab a fresh apple slushy! It is delicious!”

“Hands down the best apple picking orchard I’ve been to! The employees all the way from the parking lot, to the ladies inside, & especially the guys driving the tractors were incredible ~ orchards were beautiful and you could tell, well maintained. It was such a good day. Highly recommend. 🧡”

“Perfect place for U-pick apples. The apple cider slushes were my favorite. The donuts were delicious too! It made for a great afternoon activity. They had a bunch of activities for kids to do. You take a tractor ride to the orchid and get to pick from different varieties that are in season.”

“So much fun!! What a wonderful place!! So many delightful varieties of apples. They not only carry apples, but many other products made out of apples too. They have fresh fried apple pies, apple cider donuts, apple cider slushies, and penny candies. A must stop at!”

“Went to the stand today with the family. Great selections of apples. BlackBerry apple slush was awesome! The Honey Crisp apple are Gigantic! Had some donuts and apple crisp. Definitely worth a stop but can easily spend $100 😁 like we did. You have to try the Haberno Chedder Cheese! 😳 Nice heat!!”
