Before you go
A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Hawaii.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“My husband and I had a great time learning about the different cacao and coffee plants in Hawaii. The coffee and chocolate tasting were not only delicious but informative! I have a new appreciation for local farms and locally made coffee and chocolate now. Thank you so much to Matthew for a wonderful experience! The biggest takeaway is that ruby chocolate is not chocolate and that white chocolate needs to be given a little more credit 🍫☕️ I would recommend bringing a bottle of water to help wash down the samples. You will taste raw ingredients and they can dry up your throat. We also did the 9am tour which was perfect because it was right before the afternoon heat came in. Come curious! Come hungry for chocolate! :)”

“The experience for me was incredibly educational and immersive. We loved walking through the lush orchards to see how coffee and cacao are grown in the unique volcanic soil. The coffee tasting was exceptional! The chocolate portion was equally divine. Tasting the raw cacao fruit and then seeing it transformed into high-quality dark chocolate was fascinating. The guide's passion for sustainable farming was inspiring. If you want an authentic Hawaiian farm-to-table experience away from the crowds, this is it!”

“The 1 hour tour was interesting and Keith was great. It was valuable to learn from someone who has been involved at every step, from planting the trees to wrapping the finished product. The chocolate is the best I have ever tasted. It is what chocolate should taste like. Hershey’s is for chumps.”

“Interesting presentation and information about farming coffee and cacao along with assorted other plants. 2 hrs in length. This was our 2nd cacao tour in Hawaii the other being on Kauai. Recommend the experience for those with curious minds.”
