A short checklist so the trip feels easy — especially helpful for first-time u-pick visits in Indiana.
- Bring closed-toe shoes, sun protection, water, and containers unless the farm supplies them.
- Call or check the website for today’s picking conditions — mud, rain, and sold-out fields are common.
- Arrive earlier in the day for cooler weather and better selection during peak weekends.
- Cash still helps at smaller stands even when cards are accepted.

“Was at Radke Orchards for the opening of apple picking season. Radke Orchards has been family operated since 1894. This was my first time going apple picking. We arrived to smiling friendly faces. Was treated to a tractor pulled wagon ride down into the orchard. There were so many different choices to choose from. It was such an enjoyable experience. Took my time going down rows and rows and discovering all different types of apples. Ate a few as I went along. The trees are shorter for easy picking. I love this place! No fancy commercial over kill. Free admission and parking. Apples are reasonably priced. Looking forward to returning before apple picking season ends.”

“Radke’s has become one of our favorite start of fall traditions. We love that it isn’t gimmicky with petting zoos, long lines and parking directors - just a small storefront and apple orchards. On Saturday’s and Sunday’s they offer apple cider donuts and fritters. They also have the standard varieties everyone loves like Fuji, honeycrisp, galas, Jonathan’s, but they also have some really neat heirlooms. We also love that it’s dog friendly! Thanks Radke’s for letting us bring our furry family member to enjoy the fun!”

“We visited early in the season and had at least 4 or 5 varieties to choose from! Their prices are reasonable ($1.60/lb) and their orchard is easily walkable (or you can access it via tractor ride). I loved the simplicity of this orchard: just apple picking, a food truck with their goodies and a farm store. The apples are good sized and so aromatic as well as delicious! Their cider was delicious! The owners and staff are so friendly. I highly recommend this orchard to anyone interested in real apple picking!”

“We had a beautiful visit eventho it was the end of the season. Golden Delicious and Cameo? Tried the fritters, the doggy donut and the hot apple cider. They were exceptionally welcoming to me and my dog. It’s a little hilly and I got my feet wet but we enjoyed a beautiful day.”

“This was our 3rd October in a row visiting Radke's. Their fresh & hot Apple Cinnamon Sugar Donuts are our families favorite! The apple fritters are soooo good too! The free tractor ride and getting to pick our own apples makes it worth the drive from IL for us!!!”

“We were there for their last weekend of the season. The apples were great, but their fresh Apple Cinnamin Doughnuts were Fantastic. The air was as crisp as their apples. Beautiful area. The farm stand had some nice items like honey, candy and fresh cider.”

“Beautiful no frills apple orchard- with SO many apple varieties to choose from. Only $1.60 a pound (cheaper than 1 apple from Whole Foods!). The apple cider donuts were fresh and some of the best I’ve had. Perfect fall day here!”

“They always have a decent supply of apples. Wish they had other fruits as well. Asked about pears but never seen any. Prices are getting a bit high, but other than that, it's a good place to take kids. When you buy donuts look at them to make sure you get what you paid for. Also right now the trees have something on them so beware if you have allergies.”
